I posted this to youtube but many people seemed to enjoy it, so I thought I would share here as well.
I'm just showing new growths and things on my plants, and as a bonus you can see me be scared by a mean wasp! How fun!
And for those of you who have experienced my posts complaining about orchid smells, I finally found a den nobile with a smell that I don't hate, haha.
You know I was thinking to myself she should just swat it. But do you know how hard you have to smack them to kill them? You would have knocked over the lamp. I mean you really have to let them have it to knock them down then hit them as hard about 3 times before they are dead. They kind of have to be ripped in half to die. REALLY!!!!
True, because if you piss them off by hitting and not doing considerable damage to a point they can't fly, they will fly back to you and sting you somewhere! They are crazy vicious little buggers!
As a kid, I got stung by a wasp near my eye, thank goodness it was not the actual eye.
What did I do? Well, they started to build a nest right outside of the kitchen window. To prevent any future war with them everytime I would have to open the window, I got a broom and tried to get the nest off the wall. Well, they (there were about 6-8 ) got quite angry and began to fly all over. I quickly shut the window in fear of them flying inside the kitchen and kill me. well, One of them did make it inside although I was pretty quick in closing the window.
That thing descended on my face near one of my eyes and ouch! F....!!! then it flew away.
The sting site was swollen up badly but I had a bottle of ammonia handy in the cupboard.
Ok, enough of the wasp, so you did find pink Miltoniopsis like mine! Congrats! Aren't they so pretty?
Mine has been inactive for a while since the flowers dropped. and it is now slowly growing.
I also like your yellow miltoniopsis. So many flowers!

When I was younger, I was in my own house, minding my own business, when I kneeled down in front of the television to watch cartoons like any self-respecting child would do.
Well, I guess a wasp had crawled up my pant leg and stung me on the calf. I had NO IDEA, and I ran like a mad woman into my room and changed my clothes quickly, and out of the pant leg crawled a mangled, twitching little wasp.
...it was awful.
But being stung on the face?! no thanks!!
And ammonia? Is that a wasp sting treatment?
I am pretty sure going at a wasp nest with a broom is basically always a bad idea. XD

Good thing you didn't hit it because it would have done something back to you!
In a way, it is cool that wasp can maintain their stinging organ and use it many times while honey bees die by stinging as the sting actually comes off their body.
Yep, it is also from my personal experience, more than once unfortunately. I got stung and the thing (sting) with something that appeared to be some kind of intestine attached to it was on my leg. Funny thing is the sting was moving as if it was alive and had a mind of its own.
I was crying ( I was a little kid) because of pain but at the same time I was looking closely at the sting dancing on (and actually slightly deeper and deeper into the skin) my leg. Yeah, sounds quite freakish, but true.

I was told at school that ammonia (basic) neutralizes the toxin (acidic) from bees or wasps.
Your story reminded me of something very very funny I experienced.
One time I was visiting a female friend in Las Vegas.
We were in her living room eating something. She says "I feel something on my back, can you check?" I did and there was nothing. then she starts to scratch her back. She says "are you sure because it's definitely there and moving up. Take a look again"
and I leaned over to have a second look when she just took her shirt off really fast, screamed like a mad woman and ran away into her room. I wasn't sure if I had to laugh or hold laughing but I think I laughed. a lot. because it was sooooo funny, but then I was like WTF is going on here?
I examined her shirts and there was this small beetle walking out of her clothes. lol
Then I went, "hey, come out, it's just a small bug"
Can you picture the situation?
