Default Is 13$ is a good price for phalaenopsis?

Didn't really knew where to put this topic
this is the price of in spike first time bloom. Is it matter the size or more the times it was in bloom?

Phals that you can get from box stores usually have a set price for all of the phals. You may find ones that are healthy, and ones that aren't as healthy for the same price. They seem to be priced on the size of the plant (when it comes to box stores.) of course there could be some that are obviously "rescues" that can be on sale.

Phals that you can get from other growers and greenhouses can be priced by: demand, common or rarity, health, size/maturity, flower quality, and possibly for potential award quality. ** I could be wrong on some of this**

IMO, if you're happy with the phal, and it is healthy, it's a good price.

Yea I know it's in very great health, but my lusidia from the same place got spike after the phalaenopsis and now it's already in bloom(well almost didn't open yet)
Also hiw much an oncidium should cost? You see i found out two really big nurseries near me only 15 min drive. And one is more growing and the other is more active as pollinating and teaching about orchids and have more rare species but it's both in their house yard (coaf jealous ) but the norma it's if you go you buy sure no one will make you. But it will fill uncomfortable the question is weather to give the second place a chance or not also it's in my town only 5 min drive so I kind of afraid that I will camp there a lot

Nice plant!

I can't say for sure how much one oncidium would cost.. Around the same guidelines as a phal? (I don't have any oncidiums but I've seen a few with prices at my nearest greenhouse.) I think the larger ones with blooms were priced slightly higher. 25-35 U.S. Dollars.
They were probably priced by the name of the hybrid, size(amount of growths), amount of blooms, and health. Some of the leaves had flaws, but the ones that didn't were priced slightly higher.

I've gotten most of my phals in bloom for 20-25. One of them was 35 maybe... But there is two phals in one pot (one in bloom, and the other spiking)
I've mainly picked out hybrids that have an awarded parent, or ones that are 50%+ of a species that I like.

Ooooh... Those are some nice plants! I would definitely have trouble choosing which ones!!

I like 1-3... I'm not sure what the first one is, but 2 and 3 look pretty and they also seem like a good choice.

8 looks like a Zygo type.. I'm not sure. It's pretty but I don't know what their culture is like.

9 looks like a Vandaceous orchid. Something that starts with an R.. I like vandas but their culture can be difficult... These would be okay if you have a greenhouse, or a setup that retains ample humidity, and enough warmth... Also enough room for them once they get bigger.

..and the yellow one. (Last picture)
The yellow one is pretty common and okay for a beginner, (at least I've heard so.)

I have a couple Cattleyas, a couple Paphiopedilums, some Phragmipediums, phals, and some vandaceous orchids. The Vandaceous orchids I have: Vanda coerulea (supposedly tolerates cooler temps than other vandas).. A Hygrochillus parishii, and a Darwinara Rainbow.

Other than that, I can't really say much. I'm still new to orchids I started out in late November last year.

I'm sorry about the species thing! I pick out orchids that are available, regardless of species. There are some species that I want, but I try to stick with hybrids that are easier.

if you think its a good price , then buy it.
you dont have to buy a plant if the price is or isnt ideal.

also there is no definite value for these plants, id say 13 dollars is a great price for a phal.

Thanks the 3 first ones are cat i don't know why but for now cut are less attractive for me they remind me too much of a rose or hibiscus. Don't get me wrong they're beautiful but we have to much roses and hibiscus in the streets surrounding the houses. So I kind search for something like hygrochillus parishii bought seeds and potted 1 month ago but still nothing germinated. So I don't want usually phalaenopsis I want something with medium flowers or bigger and that can tolerate home environment and will thrive. I believe they have almost any common orchid they are a collectors that started 40 years ago importing from Vietnam and China.

Your question really can't be answered with any ease.

It simply depends on what the going rate is for plants in your country and area. For example, blooming phals here typically go for $20 US or more if you get them from a vendor or nursery. Even the BBSs (big box stores) may charge similar amounts. However, down in Florida, the same sized plants may be had for as little as $5 US at a farmer's market. Whether the hybrid is one of the typical mass produced ones from Asia or something more special also matters.

If out of bloom, BBSs will often steeply reduce the prices, but it is a gamble as to what condition the plant is actually in by that point. Also if you prefer named plants, one is often out of luck at a BBS.

A local orchid society would be in a much better position to address the price topic.

Another thing about the price of an orchid. If there are no growers near you then you have to figure in price of shipping or driving to get the orchid you want. It looks like you have a nice grower close, you are so lucky!
