That is what a sister is for!
Default That is what a sister is for!

Well, I just returned from a lovely vacation! In my absence I had asked my sister to water my orchids for me. She has had previous instruction because she waters orchids that I send to the nursing home where she used to work.
In order to make things easy I went around the house and outside and collected all my orchids and put them on one level of the house so it would be easy for her to take care of them.
When I got home yesterday everything looked great! I even have a couple of new spikes going on my oncidium types and *gasp* there IS something inside that sheath of my cattleya! I only had lost two leaves on a NoID phal that I had repotted just before I left. What a relief!!!
Anyhow...that is what a good sister will do! She said it took her an hour and a half to do them and she counted (something I never do, because then I might have to stop buying them)...61! Honestly, I didn't know I had that many. OOPs, more are coming at the end of August.
So last evening, after putting in some laundry I watered all 61 and put them back on their windowsills and out on the porch, etc. Whew!

BTW...when she went on vacation I had to milk her two goats, feed the chickens, dogs, and cats for 4 days. Orchids are nothing compared to goats! Right?

That's really nice! My brother would get bored after 5 minutes and leave the rest to dry out!! Then he would tell me he watered all of them and it took him 5 hours!! Lol!!

You are very lucky, thanks God my sis is still living in good old Europe, but she has no green thumb what so ever, in her care it would be all GONE - my mom is coming to Miami for 3 months every year, and only once her orchids made it, when in care of my sister, all other times R.I.P:-))))))) Sorry Sis!

Great sister! I don't know what my brother would do... I can see asking him, he'd say yes, then while explaining to him all the little things he needed to do and/or not do... He'd look at me like I had absolutely and completely gone insane!! (Lol, I can see his face now.. ) not sure if they'd still be ok when I got back tho...

My sister has strict instructions to stay as far away from my orchids as possible she is the black thumb of death child. Geez I swear her and my mom can look at plants and they shrivel up in their pots dead!

Happy dance for your sister though, and the counting thing is EXACTLY what my sister would pull....great great great guilt material she would need something from me...
