Windowsill Growing: how important is air movement?

I wasn’t carefully planning what orchids I could handle and what I couldn’t at the time since I was just beginning this orchid growing interest. But around December and January it does drop to 45-65 f here where I am. Last year was pretty cold and dry and it went below freezing a few times. Provided it doesn’t get to freezing, I just leave them outside in a shaded area. It gets bright here so they get some morning sun in the East facing front porch.
