windowsill boot drip tray

I was discussing this with another person and i recently read someone else on this board was struggling with a small but functional drip tray.

so, que the MacGuyver theme music, here's the dirty Coco project...i don't do videos, i am an illustrated list kind of dude.

so i will make one caveat- this is NOT a humidity tray, it CAN be made to be a little more wet proof if you want that but that was not my goal and so, warned

start with a hydro tray 3-5$ less if you buy a bunch

you are going to remove the middle inch or 3/4"

so start with a couple cuts down from the lip to the bottom

next you add an adhesive, I used Locktite spray adhesive, the red one (permanent bond) but you could use a lot of things here..this is also the point where you decide is this a reservoir or a drip pan? if you wan to make it more of a res, use silicon caulk around the bottom and side of the INNER piece, this will create a seal that will hold the volume of water in this small vessel

whats the difference to a regular rectangular flower pot like one of these

Cheaper and already exactly what you have made from what I can see.

They come in 40,60,70,80,100 and 120cm sizes and are completely sealed.

those are too big for most indoor windowsills and leave no place for the mechanism to open and close the window, they are also much taller

certainly a great and workable solution for many people too
