Default A visit to Orchideen Lucke in Germany

This weekend Orchideen Lucke in Germany had their annual open house, and so we made the 1 hour drive across the border for me to go drool over their greenhouses and hand them my credit card...

I ordered several times from them in the past, and always recieved perfect plants. Walking into their greenhouses for the first time it's easy to see why; they are immaculate. Clean paths and benches, no weeds, nothing in soggy/stale media, and the employees are super pleasant and helpful people.

I was reasonable and only got 4 plants (partly because I have an order from another grower due to arrive soon... )

I got a Sophronitis cernua, Phal schilleriana,
Phalaenopis (amabilis x tetraspis #C1) x tetraspis #C1, and Lc. Tropical Trick "Machado #5"

This is the Lc. Tropical Trick:

And the Phal tetraspis #C1 cross:

Their show area set up for the weekend:

And some photos of their beautiful greenhouses:

Very nice, I particularly like the phalaenopsis. I placed an order with them last year - I can feel another coming on soon. Here the country has come to a standstill because of the Siberian winter snow - I take you were not badly affected.

I was meaning to order from them, and when I found out about the open house weekend I thought I'd wait for that! I didn't save compared to paying the shipping costs though, gas is expensive here and my boyfriend felt like testing the autobahn "speed limit"...

We didn't get a single snowflake in our part of the Netherlands. Much to the Dutchies relief, with the frigid cold temps (-10C at the worst) the ponds and canals froze solid and seemingly everyone took time off work to jump on their ice skates.

What did you order? I love this forum, we're always enabling other people to buy more orchids!

And I just got an email from Elsner saying my my order (from 3 weeks ago) is finally shipping out tomorrow. So many new orchids! My boyfriend is not sure what to think of it.

Phalaenopsis (Encarnada de Caso x George Vasquez) x bellina
Phalaenopsis Younghome Lucky Star x Ambotrana
Dendrobium Nora Tokunaga
Miltassia Kauai´s Choice
Miltonia candida x Binotii

I am trying not to add too many phals as the space I grow them in is full. I have a few oncidium types so two more will be a nice addition. The dendrobium is an unknown - I have one solitary den-phal which is in it's third year so it will soon have a companion.

Amazing Camille. How did you get pictures without people all over?

We saw pictures of this on the TV news last night! Interesting to see ordinary folks in speed-skating posture.

Beautiful Phal. tetraspis cross. I wonder if the color pattern will stay the same over time.
