Positive Feedback for Hausermann
I recently purchased a Phal. Kaoda Twinkle to replace a plant I recently lost (my favorite NOID Phal. in the collection). The plant is in excellent shape, came loaded with buds, and was well packaged. Their fast shipping beat a cold snap by a day! The packaging was so neat and tidy it made unwrapping a breeze. Not a single bud was lost, nor a leaf damaged. It is potted in moss which appears to be fairly fresh and not compacted. I personally may add some packing peanuts and chunky bark to loosen the mix a bit, in order to avoid a soggy death trap. My potted Phals. do better in bark with a little moss added in. The mounted ones have a pad of moss against the mount. The roots look nice and healthy right now though, so I will wait until after blooming to modify the medium. I will post pictures when it begins to bloom. I am looking forward to having another fragrant Phal..

I love Hausermann's, too. I bought a Phal amabilis recently from them and the buds were in perfect condition. The blooms are opening now and are all looking great.
Mine is in moss but I am going to wait to pot it in LECA until after the blooms are finished. I have just been putting some water in the saucer and letting the moss soak it up so that it is damp. As in your case, the moss looks good and mine has enough roots to dry the moss out quickly.

Hausermanns gets a perfect ten from me. I currently have Potinara Harriet George in bloom, purchased from them 6 weeks ago, and it gave me four blooms on two spikes.
You always get big plants for a very modest price from Hausermann's. I also bought LC. Irene Finney 'Spring's Best' from them a few weeks ago when they first offered bare root divisions for $17.99 and the plant I received was practically big enough to require a laundry hamper to pot it in, with five growing leads and one sheath ready to go!
I remember getting their catalogs when I was a teenager in the 1970s. The fact that they're still in business tells you something about their quality. Outstanding plants, superior customer service.

I agree about the prices. I have gotten really great orchids from them for great prices. The service is very good, too, if you ever have questions. They are the first online vendor I ever ordered and I have never been disappointed. The only problem...they set me up to expect high quality from every vendor.

I live close enough to drive up there and pick out my orchids when I want they are great and have a wonderful selection and price. My only minor gripe is that sometimes the orchids are packed so tight it's difficult to get them out and repot them but it's not a big deal.

I've had good luck with Hausermann's also. I think they're a first class operation.

I've never been disappointed with a Hausermann's shipment. So sad to have moved further away from them! If anyone is ever in the Chicago area, they're worth a visit. Just enormous greenhouses with loads of species.
