5eeds on EBAY
There is a seller on Ebay selling orchid seeds and a whole bunch of other exotic plant seeds. Their name is 5eeds and they sell out of turkey. I don't remember clearly, but I feel like there was another seller of a different name a while back who had similar listings and was also selling out of turkey...and they got really bad reviews - bad seed etc... Has anyone had experience with this seller and what they have to offer? I feel like it's impossible that they are offering so many different kinds of orchid seed and that it must be a scam, but at the same time, can't help but remain hopeful!

Hmm....well I don't remember the sellers name, but I purchased some seed off of ebay....the seller took forever to send my seeds....I had given up and the seller was no longer on ebay, I should have read the reviews, but I didn't purchase much more then a couple of dollars worth, so I wasn't to upset over it, and then a couple of months down the road, I got my seeds and sent them to a trusted source to be flasked....I was soon told they weren't orchids seeds....I was pretty disappointed, but like I said, I didn't lose much money over it like others had.

I think he means out of Turkey. As in the country, rather than out of turkey as the bird.

Sorry for the confusion! I meant Turkey the country!
Becca - do you remember what you ordered? I have a suspicion that this is exactly what is happening - non-orchid seeds are being peddled as a wide array of interesting orchids to the unsuspecting buyer...the elegance of the system is that 90% of the people who do buy orchid seeds won't know how to sow them anyway, so the seller can just blame their inexperience if they get odd results.

I don't remember what the name of the orchid seed was that I purchased.....I looked on ebay and it looks to be the same deal.....1.99 for 10 seeds.....and if you ask me 95% feedback isn't that great in my opinion, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't go for it, but then if you are really just curious....just buy one of something and then you will know if it legitimate or not and you won't be out a lot of money if it isn't. If you are looking for orchid seeds, I am sure many of our members on here can direct you to some trusty websites! Good luck!

10 orchid seeds?!! Sorry to be blunt but that is a pointlessly small amount of orchid seeds to consider buying. After sterilising and washing I'd be amazed if you could even find the 10 seeds you started with to flask let alone get germination. I imagine I'd waste several thousands of seed every time I flask dehisced seed. If your going to buy orchid seed, buy a pod or at least make sure there's enough to sow a mother flask.

I understand what you are saying now that I have been growing orchids a little longer then back when I tried to purchase the seeds. But many newbies out their do not know that 10 seeds is not enough, such as I back then, but like I said I know different now. I was just saying that a person could purchase the 10 seeds just to see what the heck you get if you are that curious/worried about what you would get. That is why I recommended to get some trusty sources from other members. Like I say, you get what you pay for!

Calvin, You might want to try The Orchid Seedbank Project. I've never purchased seed from them but I suspect they would be a much more reputable source.

Thanks Andrew - I put in an order about 2 weeks ago and am awaiting my reply.
Yes the original seller (likely this one under a different name, and probably the one becca ordered from) I had seen a few months ago was advertising 10 seeds as well...so I e-mailed her and asked how that was possible. She replied with a very genuine e-mail saying she was so pleased to meet another orchid grower who knows about orchids, and that it's more like a 'pinch' of seeds, and the 10 seeds was just an 'estimate'.....I thought - hey they kind of know what they're talking about - might as well give it a try! But a day later when I went to check it out, the seller had disappeared!
