Glasshouse Works
So, this place doesn't sell orchids strictly, so I'm not sure if this thread belongs here, or in another forum, but I'm curious about vendor feedback.
This company is located in Stewart, OH, and they offer a WHOLE BUNCH of my favorite tropicals. I've never ordered from them before, but I put in an order for two terrarium plants this week. While I wait, I am curious to know if anyone else has bought from them before, and what they thought. Anyone here? What did you get?

Funny you posted this. I was just thinking about this outfit. It was years ago, but I ordered several plants from Glasshouse Works. I even detoured on a trip to Michigan to the tiny town of Stewart and visited the greenhouse, which was awesome. I was always happy with the plants I ordered from them. Still have Anthurium clarinervium-- the only one of my house plants that survived the orchid coup.

That sounds promising! I ordered an Adiantum peruvianum, and an Alocasia reginula 'Black Velvet.' One of these days, I'd like to visit their greenhouse, but I don't have any other reason to be in Stewart, OH. Glad you had a great experience with them!

You will have to let us know!
There are a few (ha ha, many) gardens and greenhouses across the US that I would love to visit but, due to a lack of any good excuses to be in the area, I really cannot find a motive to go. :0

If you have a few greenhouses from which you order plants, and you like their stuff, I would say to go for it. I live in the Ann Arbor area, and LOOOOOOVED to visit Oak Hill. I only got to stop 2 or 3 times, but the first trip was a dedicated trip there. We even went camping and took two of our dogs with us. It was one of the best short vacations I've taken. Now that Oak Hill is gone, I am a thousand times happier that I went to see it while it was still there. If you have a favorite, do it. They don't last forever. You never know when an owner will fall ill, retire, move far away, or have a disaster. It is always worth it, as far as I'm concerned. Visiting greenhouses is one of my favorite things.

I've ordered from them several times (begonias, jasmines, and some other exotics) and have been very, very pleased. Great people to work with, super friendly and helpful, and nice quality plants at very reasonable prices.
If any of you do go and visit, be aware that Stewart is a classic "blink and you miss it" Ohio town, and the greenhouses sit back a bit off the main road. The operation is tiny for the volume they produce, too.
Definitely worth the trip!

Glasshouse Works is a solid, reputable company with good products. I miss their clunky old, hand-coded Web site with background organ music by Bach....
Realize when they get an order they may have to propagate the plant(s) you want, so it may take some time to get your plant(s.)

Happy to see some miss the clunky old hand-coded web site! Tom (one of the partners at Glasshouse Works) built that from scratch and it was a favorite hobby spending hours every day updating it by hand.
Tom passed away 2 years ago so the online portion needed translated to something more modern since no one else knew what was what. I miss the old site too, have a backup somewhere complete with the bach music

Welcome to Orchid Board! How about giving us an introduction here:
Orchid Board Community: Break the Ice
Back to Bach on GW. I'm going from memory here - was it the Little Prelude in g minor?
