I'm down to only 2 sellers on ebay for orchids that I trust and one seller for African violets. I don't think I would buy on ebay if I could get orchids and AV's that I want near me.

...at one time one of the vendors on ebay was stealing photos of OB members flowers to post on their orchids for sale...
I know who it was but I dont want to say it bec these days you can be held liable for defamation if you post negative things and cant back them up..I know the incident ran a few members off the OB for some time.
another incident involved a Thailand seller who sent a box of roots. I guess they thought it was going to get confiscated anyway why send em plants. Inventive indeed.

It is interesting to hear about all your experiences on eBay. I have had good experiences too!! Many good plants I have bought over the years...but never one this bad. The bugs really made me mad.
I did reach back out to Marblekg and told him that I think a $20 refund would be acceptable given the condition of the plant. The overall cost of the plant was $65; $55 for the plant and $10 for shipping. I told him if I did not hear back in three days, that I would reach out to eBay resolution.
I'll letcha know what happens!!

Becky, is this the one?
WOW Cattleya Violacea 'Muse' FCC AOS Bloom Size Tree Fern Species Imported | eBay
The plants you received was different from the photo? I can see that some people may not be happy with the photoed plant, but the price seems to be pretty fair to me (for a pretty big C. violacea with FCC even if it it mericlone). But you are right, bugs could be annoying, but not so difficult to get rid of them. I always assume that any new orchids can bring in bugs (and other stuff). I hope you'll get a good resolution, though!

Sorry to hear about your trouble.
I recognize that seller although I have never bought from him.
It is nice to leave feedback here so other people know who not to buy from and it is nice that you told the seller that you would tell others about the unhappy purchase so he would be pressured to make things right.
I have bought many plants on eBay and never had a surprise.
Check their feedback and as Katrina says, always buy from the listing with the actual and recent photo of the plant you are buying.
I have never bought from sellers (even if they have 100% positive feedback) who only post nice example photos of flowers but no pictures of actual plants.
I have to see the plant myself and I have to be the judge because I am the one paying money.

I agree with NYCorchidman. I want to see the actual plant.
That vendor turns me off with the prices. I don't mind paying a pretty penny for plants, but I expect to see what I am buying and it better be in pristine condition unless there was a shipping issue.
I have received imported plants coming from the far side of Canada that looked like they had just been pulled from a pristine greenhouse that morning. So it can be done.

Great Notification! Precaution to the seller: marblekg
Thanks for your post so much!
I was so close to buy many orchids from he/she, and I was also looking for a Cattleya aclandiae.
I was consulting about a listing that I feel the quality didn't worth that much and asked if they have better plants. I asked politely but his/her attitude went south, very defensive and sarcastic, and it means very bad seller quality to me.
Gladly I found out this review and it confirmed my guess. I feel sorry for the original post, but I appreciate he shared this experience.
I didn't know they have many other listing of the same species when I consulted about the bad one. But then I looked over all the other listed items and found out they so frequently (if not always) sell new cutting on recent mounted fern. Basically they are bare root cuttings. And many of them are not in good conditions. And sometimes, same pictures was used for different listing at wildly different prices.
For other buyer's future information, just be cautious if you ever think about buying from this seller.

Most of the things I've seen him list are wildly overpriced, and I wouldn't buy them anyway, but I have bought two more modestly priced plants from him. They were both on the high end of what you might expect to pay, but still within a reasonable price range. They were both young plants, and they were both very healthy, however when they bloomed, they both turned out to be completely different plants from what they are labeled. I bought the second plant from him before the first one had bloomed, so I didn't realize yet that he apparently habitually mislabels plants. I like both of the plants I got from him very much, but I won't buy anything else from him.

Yup I was super close to ordering too and then JScott, you sealed the deal for me and I aborted that plan!!! I wanted a seedling that is already rare enough and couldn't imagine he had and in the variety i wanted..I was ALREADY imagining blooming the plant and it being something else then read all of this and specifically JScotts comment and decided that heartache and anxiety wondering just isn't worth it to me!
