Default Lois Duffin Orchids; 2 big thumbs up

After trading emails with Lois & Jim the past couple of months, Jim sent me a note of available Aussie hybrid divisions. These guys were very reasonably priced, are huge & came extra well packed. I'll definitely keep in contact to see if anything else piques my interest.
Great communication, great plants.

I have known Lois & Jim for a long time through SEPOS, and they are simply the most friendly and upstanding folks to deal with. I sincerely believe that they view others as "orchid growers, just like us" and not as simply "customers".

You should see the stuff they bring to the society meeting show tables!

As far as size goes, these guys can be all over the place, even from year to year. I left all my Aussies in the gh this summer and have noticed that the growth is much shorter and stouter; I've shifted my fertilizer regime as well, so I'm sure that's part of it.

They replied to you? I see you're not just a local who was able to go in person, or were you indeed in the area?

I tried repeatedly over a period of a few months to get information from them about some plants I was interested in, other than the phone being answered 1 time they would never respond to my attempts to contact them by phone or email. That one time they told me one of the plants was pretty big and would be expensive to ship, I ship myself so I do get that but please don't just blow me off. If you won't ship then say so on your website, if you won't ship some but will others just don't list the 'no-flys', if I caught an oops then tell me you won't sell it, or hey you may discover I'm willing and able to spend generously. Don't just ignore potential customers, it doesn't look good.

I met Lois and Jim at the Philadelphia Flower Show last year where they exhibited some amazing orchids. Such nice people!

Yes, they replied to me; I sent a very specific list of what I was looking for. I received a note that they were in the middle of show season, but that they would get back to me--that was mid-February. We have emailed each other a few times since then; Jim let me know which plants they had divisions of, what they were asking for each and if I wanted to go ahead with the order due to the shipping expense (which, given the size of the plants and the excellent packing was very reasonable).
