When I was still in my manic buying phase a while back, I came to like Hausermann a lot. Salt of the earth.

Tho I only got smaller, not BS plants from them (all Catts0, more affordable and my premise was they might also come to better adapt to my growing conditions as they matured.

As long as you did not disturb a lot of roots, your spikes are safe and they will open its buds to a wonderful display. I have seen the picture of the spikes and they will be awesome.

Yeah, I knew I was going to get gorgeous healthy plants but I was really blown away! These are beauties for sure. I just really really needed to look at those roots and get the moss out. It's humid in my house (I refuse to turn the air conditioning on till absolutely necessary) and I was just fretting like mad about that soggy packed moss. Anyway, it's all done now. I saw no signs of bugs but I guess I should leave them in the quarantine room for one more week before moving them into their permanent spot. Can't wait to see the blooms!

:) the secret to the phals and the moss is dont water the moss AT ALL until its dry. Use the skewer method and when the stick comes out dry from the bottom its time to water and you will never ever again kill another phal with too much water...

P.S. the office girl is the best orchid watcher Ive ever seen watch a plant and not water it. Shes had flowers on 1 plant for almost 3 months that I gave her to watch and shes the best. Learn how to watch them ;)

I'm not sure this moss would have ever dried out- haha! It was compacted into a brick! Ok, maybe it would have eventually. But I feel like it wouldn't have been great for the roots to sit in a solid mass of sogginess for that long. I think if I could have loosened it up and left it that would be different but I couldn't even do that. Took 20 minutes of tweezing and a soak to get this mass dislodged. But that's great advice. I use the skewer method now for all of my plants so it makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Mini top three buds withered before they even really formed. :( but the three larger ones below seem fine so far. Surf Song is looking good.
