The Orchid Zone, if you're into slippers, just opened it's doors to the public after years of nothing but wholesale. I hear it's quite impressive

I grow Cattleyas, Encyclia and some dendrobiums that can tolerate our heat, humidity and rain. I have a Bulbo as well which is doing fine.
Primarily interested in cattleyas.

When are you going to be here? There is a vendor show in San Jose 5/30-6/01. San Jose Orchid Expo. Not a big show, just a few nice vendors.

I know there are some greenhouses on the peninsula, many are not open to the public without an appointment. Brookside is the only one I know that's open.

I will probably go on first week end of June 6th.
I looked at Brookside's web site. They are not offering much right now.May be by June, they will have more.
Thanks for the information though.

every Friday morning, starting about 3 am (yeah) the flower mart opens...they sell mostly to licensed vendors, but many times they will make an exception...of course, you cant get flowers for the same price the flower shops pay wholesale, lol....but across the alley from the flower mart are shops where you can buy orchids! all the big vendors will sell to the public...they have bonsai too, and lots of exotic things! the wholesale flower mart in san fran is one of the biggest in the world, and is an absolute must to see if you possibly can! there are some breakfast 'hole-in-the-walls' that cater to the business people, and they have a great breakfast! GO GO GO! wear walking shoes, its a series of REALLY BIG warehouses....quite the experience!...its been so many years since I lived there I cant remember the directions, but your hotel will tell you I am sure...

It's across the bay in San Francisco...you would have to drive or take public transportation like BART and then most likely MUNI once in SF (I'm not exactly sure where the flower mart is...still haven't gone to it since I don't really like the city :P

The flower mart is my weekly addiction during lunch breaks at work. It's located between 5th and 6th streets on Brannan. There's one orchid shop that sells out of bloom phals for fifty cents each!
