Orchid Trail, Morrisville, NC

Wanted to share a few shots from a recent visit to Orchid Trail. This is one of my local haunts--I've gotten a lot of help from Paul, there, and a lot of beloved plants, too. I'd set up a hammock and live in the collections greenhouse if they'd let me.

I love Orchid Trail!! When I lived in Raleigh, I would visit there regularly. It was close to where I worked, so if I had a bad day, instead of stopping at a bar, I'd stop at the Orchid Trail. It was a great way to turn a bad day around. Some of my favorite plants came from there.

Paul is fantastic! And a great source of information. I still call there with lists of plants that I want and if they have them, I have him ship them.

Their collection greenhouse is spectacular! And if they allow for hammocks to be setup, let me know because I am right there with you.

I miss so many things about Raleigh, including the Orchid Trail. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos and starting this thread about such a great place.

That one is Opsistylis Mem.Mary Nattrass and if you find one, I'll arm wrestle you for it. I've been searching, and haven't found anything like it in this whole darn country full of orchid sellers.

Nikkik--exactly what I do! It turns my whole day around to spend some time in the collections greenhouse. And then the sales greenhouse usually turns my whole budget around, but, hey....who really needs food anyway.
Pull up a hammock. I'm over here by Paul's rupicolous laelias.

Thanks Beth. I looked it up and it appears that it can be quite variable in appearance, all the way from the pic we saw to flowers that, frankly, are not very attractive.
