What? I was just trying to help her get a little needed therapy to get over a bad experience.

That's awful, awful customer service for any company. Wow.

As many bad things as I have heard about Orchids.com, aka Norman's, well I have heard 2x as many GREAT things about Andy's!
Anyone ever order from Sloorchids.com? They offer some species I'd like, just wondering how they are as a vendor.

You might want to consider a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Enough complaint there may have meaning and it will show up when people search. Id put it under Norman's Orchids and orchids.com.

'When I got a replacement plant that they sent me (which was cheaper than the one the screwed up), it turns out the plant has a TERMINAL SPIKE. "
What is a terminal spike and how to I have my orchids checked for viruses?

Terminal spike happens when a monopodial orchid, like a Phal or vanda, spikes off the very top, inhibiting the growth of future leaves. The plant will either keiki or eventually die off over time.

Do you mean the center of the plant leaves? How do you check for viruses?

Also put a complaint up at Dave's Garden so other people can be warned. Some of the better vendors address complaints there.
If I can only find my orchid at a vendor with bad ratings, I wait until a favorite vendor gets it or I find it at an orchid show. It is just not worth risk for me.
Good luck and hope you find your orchid somewhere else.

I've ordered twice from them, and have had mostly good experiences. The only complaint is that a Bulb. frostii came with shriveled pbulbs that were climbing out of the small plastic pot planted in sphag. I repotted and the bulbs have plumped up. I do enjoy looking at their website and like the fact that you can pick the date you would like your shipment to arrive, usually during the next week after you order.
