Lois Duffin orchids
Does anybody know if they are still in business ?
Are they good ?
I tried e mailing 3 times but I got 'Delivery Status Notification (failure)' in reply. I am interested in some of their plants. They have no pricing and no shipping info on website.

Last I heard they were still very active, though they are getting up in years. Saw them selling at the SEPOS show last spring. Are they good? They always win plenty of ribbons at the Philadelphia Flower Show.

I think you're wasting your time, Plumania. About a year ago, I tried emailing them several times (no response) and calling (was told the wife would have to talk to me, left my number but they never called back- and emailed after also no response). I don't know why they have the website with sales plants, I think they must hate to ship and deal only with walk-in sales. Granted one of the plants I was interested in was a bigger one (den.), but I sell and ship big fragile things myself sometimes and know postage is hideous- I was willing to pay. (things I sell sometimes ship for well over $50, so I'm not easily scared and had the money then)
Sadly, I think the only way we down here in Fla. could deal with them is to find a friend or relative in Philly willing to act as go-between and shipping agent. I enquired in this forum at the time of my attempted transaction with them, and was told by a few what Jayfar has said- they're active in competing, still around but getting on in years, have nice plants. Just not willing to ship apparently.

Thanks for the input. You clearly did not have good experience with them. I do not see much discussion about them anywhere.
I will continue to search other vendors. Definitely have no desire to waste my time.
They may be good people n great growers, just not good with business aspect.
Also probably this is not a good time of the year to get plants from Philadelphia.

Last time I saw them was at Orchid Fest at Parkside Orchids last July (where they brought some plants that I had ordered via e-mail).
They normally exhibit & sell at Deep Cut OS show, but they are not on the vendor or exhibitor lists this year.
