I think if the plant sat inside a box for a month you'd receive a dead plant.
I have been told by the SBOE reps that once they receive an order destined for Florida, they put it in a cage in a quarantined area that is separate from all other orchids, and your orchid sits there for 30 days. They charge you when they mail it.
I've ordered many (and often expensive)Laelia anceps divisions and the plants arrive in perfect condition every time. Most recently, I ordered 1 of their seedling specials, which I received in December. The plants are taking off like nobody's business.
I honestly don't understand the outrage over this that some have displayed on this thread. SBOE has awesome plants. I can certainly wait 30 days for an awesome orchid---it's not the end of the world.
