Default Today's Ecuagenera Pick Up

So, I had on my list of mini's 2 cute orchids, I could not find at the time anywhere in the USA. One member here advise me to check Ecuagenera. I had browse their page before, but never did order. When I found out I can actually pick up my orchids at the nearby show and pay for them at the time of pick up,m it was DONE, I did order my dream come true Lepanthes telipogoniflora, and added cute Macroclinium manabinum. When I arrived to Fairchild gardens, they even let me enter for free just to do pick up (this was Aroid show, so no really reason to hang out at this time:-)) I came to thei booth, and Ivan from Ecuagenera was extremely nice. He did open my package, that was still sealed at that time, and than we both saw that unfortunately my Lepanthes is pretty much gone
He said unfortunately that one did not travel well. Macroclinium was just fine, looking pretty good and with spike. Well, not a good day for me, it was not meant to be. This is no in any way complain, Ivan was extremely nice, and offer me to bring me another one next show, that will be here in Miami in November, this time orchid show. He did charge me only for Macroclinium and gave me the poor nearly dead Lepanthes for free. There are some good roots, and only one tiny little leaf left, so not sure if it can make it in any way, but I did mount it on the Hygrolon and I will pray for the best. I also grabbed at other booth my only non orchid Dischidia Sp, just because it fits perfect on the Hygrolon cylinder, and than driving back I bought from street vendor NOID phal, just to make me feel better, it was very nice color:-) Ok, so no Lepanthes for me at this time, have to wait another month and something and hope next time it will make it to Miami safe

And here is the Dischidia SP:
Dischidia is a genus of plants which very close genetic relationship with "Hoya plant", they are in the Milkweed family, Asclepiadaceae. Dischidia comprises about 80 known species which all grow as epiphytes and are native to tropical areas of Indo-China.
AND NOID PHAL.

Even if it looses that leaf, if the roots are still good keep it for a while. I had a lepanthes come back after losing it leaves. I had just received it and the shock was too much. High humidity maybe hang it on the edge of your terrarium vase. Macroclinium is a repeat bloomer too!!

Thanks Kevin, Macroclinium is mounted and happy outside, and yes, it should bloom a lot. Regarding Lepanthes, I did mount it on the Hygrolon cylinder, it is humid inside, and it is moist also, so if this little whatever is left will fight for its life, there is a chance. It was a said day, I did not get my Lepanthes, and than found out I did kill my 2 buds on luteola due to my spraying with Orange Guard, so today I do consider sucky orchid day:-) I have some of those:-) and than next day may be awesome when I find some new spike or so, so let's hope for better Sunday.

Kevin, question, the Oeceoclades you sent me had a seedpod. I actually created in my head project for tomorrow, I am thinking about this for a while. That small dog park by our apartment building that is pretty much only for us and people from the houses behind our building (yes, we are exactly at that street where Kardashians moved where kick out from the South Beach!:-)), I love that small park, and there is absolutely amazing tree, once fall down, and than started to grow again, huge palm tree, with part laying on the floor. There are some bromelias and some plants that maybe someone else potted there, or they got there by the air, who knows, but it just screams ORCHIDS ORCHIDS. So, I decided, since I take my 2 doggies there anyway, that tomorrow, I will take one Spathoglottis, one of my dendros, and few phals and mount them on that tree plus put spatho into the ground. And than I will keep an eye on them and hope they will attach and start to grow there. I would love to spread this seedpod there as well, but no sure if I can do it, and if there is a chance for these seeds to start to grow? Any idea?

You have a great haul there....be careful with Lepanthes they lose leaves when given bright light and heat....put them in low medium light at the very edge of the window where the other plants give it shade....cool air around it...and you got high humidity in your atmosphere so you will have it revive itself in no time and produce more leaves....

Thanks Bud, it is actually not outside, it is already on the Hygrolon Cylinder, you can see it right above the Pleurothallis leptifolia on the 4th and 5th picture. It has definitely humidity inside the vase, hygrolon will keep it moist, there is the fan on the top of the vase, so let's hope for the very best, and will see. And if no, than in October they are bringing another one.

Bud, this is the setup. It is definitely not hot inside the apartment, the humidity should be pretty good inside the vase, and it is in the lower part of the cylinder so not under the light. Fan is running the whole day, I turn it off for the night, but there is stronger AC for the night.

Ecuagenera is very good at keeping their promises. I received a dying Dracula and sent them a picture of it=they replaced it with an almost specimen sized plant with two spikes...I was just thrilled. I was able to revive the dying plant so now I have two mounted plants.

No complains at all, Ivan was very nice and told me that he is coming personally next show, in November, which will be actual orchid show anyway. So I will go and pick up another one, and probably buy some more mini's at the show:-) Meanwhile I will try my best with this poor baby and will see if it likes Hygrolon or not!
