Exotic Orchids of Maui - Do you know this side?
Ok here we go again
after 2 days reading all the stuff on this forum I found 2 orchids I must have
I also found them REAL CHEAP on this website (never heard about them). I did this time google and they do have excellent reviews on Davesgarden.com - only positive one. Also, their prices are insane - cheap!
The problem is - minimum order is $100, and I really want only THESE 2 babies I added to my list, which is Eurychone rothschildiana (saw it today here!) and Inobulbon munificum (saw it yesterday here). I can choose another 1 or 2, but do nod want to spend again over $100. Getting over this issue, I do see pot sizes, but I do not know if all the plants are seedling size??? I mean, for the price I donno if you can get mature plants, or at least near blooming size? Did anyone order from them? Many Thanks

They are large established seedlings. Not straight out of flask.

They have some great plants but, yes, they are very young ...seedlings for sure.
I have purchased from them a couple/few times and I've never had any complaints. Always pleased.

Many Thanks
They truly do have excellent reviews, but I do look more for close to blooming, and also I want only 2 plants, so I guess I will order at least one of them that is available in TOF - got my first order from them this week and I am beyond satisfied:-) Many thanks for clearing this, I knew prices are great so it must be something small:-)

EoM used to have a fall sale every year that people would watch for and then they would blow their budget. I've gotten plants from them multiple times and was never disappointed.

I've always loved getting plants from these guys and their greenhouse is absolutely spotless. One of the best establishments for sure!

The price of their plants seem to be reasonable, but don't they have relatively steep shipping rate?
According to this:
Shipping Information: Exotic Orchids of Maui
it seems that they charge $12 + 15% of the total. So with $200 order, $42 of shipping, right? Or do they charge lower cost (I wasn't sure what they mean by "adjust" the shipping cost)?

I am not sure, however when I order from other Hawaii sellers, I usually end up paying around $40-$50 anyway for let's say 5 plus plants, second day Fedex, postage is not cheap, especially the fast one.

The government regs for shipping plants from Hawaii is utterly insane and it causes shipping rates to skyrocket. I hate it when that happens...

Steve, I thought that they have strict regulation to bring plants INTO hawaii, but exporting from Hawaii isn't that different from shipping within lower 48. It's a hassle for people is Hawaii, but it is probably good to have some regulation (with regard to importation) to protect the unique fauna/flora of Hawaii! I don't know how the current regulation is effective, though.
