Orchids in our Tropics
Unhappy Orchids in our Tropics

has anyone ordered from them? I ordered 4 this past tuesday and was told they would be shipped priority to get them to Calgary by the weekend. I checked the tracking number and found they are coming on Nov. 5th so spending a weekend in the dark. I am a little worried that i will lose some. Hopefully the plucky phals on order will be okay.

The order our club made in June/07 arrived 3 months later than they were supposed to from Malaysia and I lost 1. The other looks like it survived although the plant was in desparate shape. Note to self: don't order from overseas unless you are desparate.

regards, mary

Mary,
I've never dealt with this vendor.
A stupid question -- Ok was that just to Calgary or to your house? Did they supply 70 hr heat packs?

I don't know whats taking so long, I've ordered from paramount plenty of times ... The box always got to my house day 3.
Have you contacted them?

Hi Gloria, I did send them an email but I understand they are having email issues. My plants are due to arrive tomorrow so if the plants are a total mess, I will call directly. I honestly don't know how it happened because on one hand this delay in delivery reflects a regular mail timing from one side of Canada to the other, but on the other hand, if it was mailed as regular mail, I don't think I would have gotten a tracking number.

I am trying to be optimistic as I have experienced insane delays in receiving plants and having them arrive in awful shape (as in this past summer when my club ordered plants from Malaysia). I lost one, but the other has bounced back and I think will make it.

Kindest Regards, mary

Talking Orchids in our Tropics - Update to my original posting

I did receive the plants on Tuesday and as my posting in the Phal Alliance thread said, they were wrapped well and with the exception of the Phal. lobbi, which was mounted, the plants were in good condition. I emailed Terry to tell her about the arrival of the plants and that the lobbi was stressed. She advised what I could do (as did several members of the OB) and she also said if the plant dies as a result of the shipping, she will either replace the plant or credit back the cost of the plant.

Two thumbs up for Orchids in our Tropics!!!!!

Regards, Mary

Good customer service is just as important as the item we buy...whether it's an orchid or a thumb tack!

Hopefully, the plant will rebound (I'm thinking it probably will) but it's nice to know the grower backs their product if there is a problem

thanks for the information
