Oakhill gardens
I ordered from them a few weeks ago, a Phragmipedium besseae, and by mistake they sent me besseae 'Lemon Grsss' x 'Lemon Souffle', which is now blooming. Turns out it was an expensive mistake on their part. They offered to send me the one I wanted for no shipping costs if I wanted to keep the one I got, or I could send this back and they'd send the regular besseae to me at no cost at all. I've gotten attached to the one I got, and didn't want them to be out so much money for a simple mistake, so I offered to split the difference with them, plus ordered the regular besseae and a Cattleya trianae that I'd been wanting. The nice lady on the phone, Linnzi, said she'd ask her boss about the offer to split the difference, but said she thought she knew the answer. Anyway, what a wonderful vendor, and now the flavum is blooming. I've attached a photo I took with my phone that hopefully shows what a charmer it is. They'll be sending the next orchids after new year's. The flavum also has another bud coming up behind the one opening today. Now I feel a responsibility to make sure this one truly thrives. Seems happy so far! It's on my desk at work, I get plenty of very bright, indirect light because I'm lucky enough to have big windows next to me and a long overhang to protect against sun directly on the orchids. There are now 10 orchids on this end of my desk, and all seem happy, including a sturdy Odtna. Memoria Martin Orenstein 'Lulu' and a Bllra. Eurostar with very healthy new growths. I put trays of water under each one to keep the humidity up, and night temps drop down into the mid 60s with the heater low, and day in the low 70s. Some may have to go home where they'll get a cooler night later on, but I'll see.
