I've just purchased my first baggie baby, a Blue Cattlya. I rarely ever see such plants in good health there not to mention the blue ones. I'm guessing they just stuck these guys out since there was also a lot of phals that weren't picked over. There was two of them and I picked the bigger one since it was growing a new psuedobulb and is in excellent shape.
It was a little cramped in the bag and it's leaves are curled to show it's been cramped for a minute but it's doing well so far. I was looking for the bagged Vandas but they don't carry them anymore. I wanted to play with one of those guys before taking the expensive dive of buying one from an online source. Though Orchid Fanatic carries the Better-Gro bagged orchids at decent prices.

I found a Lowe's near my new office where apparently whoever runs the garden department actually bothers to water their bagged plants. They had a good sized C. amethystoglossa 'XXX' that had new growth and healthy roots, so I grabbed it. Had been looking for a spotted catt for awhile, and apparently these produce a lot of blooms at once.

Must be something about Florida, I have gotten 2 Myrmecophila tibicinis from those bag babies sold in a FL Lowe's. I was so surprised they even sold them. They also always have some good, named Vanda and Ascocenda hybrids in bags too. I've never seen any of those for sale when I lived in NY, ever, but I did once find an Encyclia cordigera up there. So although I guess it depends on location, you never know what might be in a shipment. I'd have picked up a species Cattleya if I saw one too, C. amethystoglossa is a nice one!

I got a variegated phal from Lowes last year. It looks just like the ones yall posted so perhaps it is a Sogo Vivien too? I have rescued several orchids from them. Thats practically the only reason I shop there. LOL

I found a red Vascostylis over the weekend at this one Lowe's on the space coast of FL, where I had previously found V. Pachara Delight and other nice blooming Vandas.

Treasures found at Lowes
I popped into Lowes this afternoon and found that everything in the greenhouse was at 1/2 price, and they had gotten a few new plants, too. So, I came home with:
Onc. ampliatum
D. spectabile
Epilaeliocattleya Golden Sunburst
and a NOID Den. that had been marked down already and still has a bud so I'll be able to see just what I bought.

Just the other week the Lowe's near my work suddenly had a bunch of cattleyas and paphs. Before that it had been ages since they had something that wasn't a Phal, Den, or Onc. hybrid (other than the bag babies).

I realize this thread is about Lowe's, but just a remider for those of you who have similar orchids for sale at your local Home Depot's, join their Garden Club email list.
Most of the coupons they send you are $5 off $50, but I got a coupon recently for BOGO orchids. it works for all the orchids they sell. A nice lady at the register checked for me so I picked up 2 bag babies for $12 and change, another Cattleya walkeriana semi-alba 'Carmela' (already have a few, I just love walkerinas!) and an Lc. Marcia Foster.
