I just got this reply from the staff -
They appear to be really nice people indeed and it's soooo dissapointing!

"Unfortunately, shipping to Canada requires permits that are costly and can take a long time to get. We don't ship anywhere that requires that type of documentation. The previous owners did ship to Canada for some time, but eventually gave it up. I wish we could help you! Hopefully, you can find an orchid business in your area or one that will ship.

Best Regards and Happy Holidays,

I used to be in a business that shipped plants, and we did send them around the world where we could. But, frankly, it's a nightmare to ship out of the country to some places (for instance, shipping to Mexico turned out to be nearly impossible for us), so we decided to stop doing so unless it was a really large order. I understand the need to be careful with plants crossing borders, but some things just go too far. Hope you can find a good vendor up there, or one from another country that will ship to you.

I just got my "replacement" Phrag. besseae, it's labeled besseae 'Haven' x besseae 'Smokin', so should prove interesting. It has a spike out on it already, which shipped fine. I also got a Catt. trianae var coerulea x sib (Luna Muisca x Blue Diamond) in a 4" pot that has 5(!) PBs with great sheaths. Don't know if any or all of them wil bloom, but I think I detect little dark shadows inside of 2 of them, so it looks promising. Pretty amazing and another win for Oak Hill Gardens!

Now that's a mistake that I would gladly take.

I would expect that you will be getting great Paphs and Phrags from Oak Hill as the parent company - Orchids Garden Centre and Nursery is Chuck Acker's retail operation.
