Hello everyone!

As you might or might not have known, I recently ordered a batch of orchids from Al's. My first reaction was...... (suspenseful music starts playing) . The plants came with extremely healthy leaves and pseudobulbs. Even the Coryanthes came without any serious problems (it took four days for the order to get here)! The plants were larger than expected. The Stanhopea tricornis I got was HUGE! The plant's roots were starting to grow out of the pot and there were over fifteen pseudobulbs WITH HEALTHY LEAVES. I got the plant for only twenty five dollars!

After digging through the pile, I found a Coryhopea Red Martian in a six inch basket. The bulbs were leafless and were the size of my fist! However, three new growths outlined the plant and were half done growing.

After more digging through styrofoam peanuts and dead flower spikes, I found the last two plants, Cory. vasquezii and Stan. wardii. The last two were a little worse than the rest but still very healthy.

As a conclusion, this is one of the best orchid stores you can buy from.

Yep, Al's is a great place! I love the back story on his site and the great service he provides. When we traveled to see family in the DC area, we stopped by (new tradition) and I have ordered online from him. The only thing that would make his store better is if it was closer to where I live.

Well, I went to Al's for many years and the only negative comments I could say is, when you go to his greenhouse, majority of good plants you will see are NOT for sale. He wants you to see those little plants or newly divided plants to buy. Al is the middleman for orchids. He buy it from other suppliers like TOF & Ecuagenera. He will keep the best one and sell the others.

Last week, I recieved two more wonderful orchids from Al, my blooming-sized Angraecum sesquip. and C. walkeriana. Both came in great condition. Whatever he is, he certainly provides excellent quality and service.
