Norman Orchids, orchids.com
Hello everyone,
I was looking to place an order with www.orchids.com and was wondering if anyone had placed an order and if it was good/bad, I will be spending quite a bit $100, so if anyone has any recommendations/advice, ect, please let me know...
I think I'm so attracted because they have the orchids that I want.
Thanks everyone
have a good day
Suzie

While I have not had an issue with them, I know many people who have. They have a habit of selling mislabeled plants and not making good on it when they bloom out to be something they aren't supposed to be.

Suzie, I've bought from them numerous times in the past. My first experience was mixed: the two Cattleyas I purchased were fine, but the two Cycnoches hybrids I got weren't so great (one never broke its dormancy--even after I let it sit on the bench with its neighbors for nearly a year). They did finally make good on the bad Cycnoches--but only after I harassed them continuously via telephone and email for a couple of weeks. That being said, however, I have noticed over the last year that they've gotten much better about responding and being helpful. Not sure whether there's someone new managing the customer service area of their business--or perhaps they just got fed up with being badgered by numerous customers and decided to be more proactive. In any event, I'm much happier with their service and plants today. I've placed several orders with them over the last year, and none of them have been problematic either by way of their products or services, and I would not be hesitant to order from them again (well, okay, unless the item I was interested in was from the Catasetinae family--but that's just because I'm a bit gun shy :-). Good luck with your order!

Hi Suzie,
I bought 3 den loddigessi plants from Norman's early this month and mounted them. Check my gallery. The plants came healthy and were bigger than I expected. Nice roots and new growth. I had talked with them on the phone and was pleased with the information I got and their packaging was great. My plants traveled from California to South Florida and they were still happy.
Hope you get some real beauties.

Cookiemonster, I just read your other post too and I can't believe that they said that was an ok plant! I think it's awful that they wouldn't admit fault there. If they want you to send it back then THEY should have to pay for shipping. It's not your fault they sent you a damaged plant. I'm sorry for your experience but at least we all know what kind of place it is! I for one will never place an order with them based on your experience. We all work hard for our money!

Just got a Dtps. Fire Cracker 'Blue Martini'
(Dtps. Red Coral var. coerulea x Dor. pulcherrima var. coerulea) from them delivered just minutes ago and I'm not the least bit impressed. I had a seedling of this given to me as a gift last year, but it died earlier this year. I was hooked on having this color in my collection though and yeah, I paid over $50 including shipping for an in bloom plant where the top of the spike was cut off. I'll never order from them again. Here's a pic, although not very good since I'm at work.

THEY CUT THE TOP OF THE SPIKE! I hope your kidding! Oh my Goodness, if they did that- they are horrible !! Did you call them and try to get a partial refund, return going on- Im sure there are other sellers out there that will sell you something of superior quality- you may have to pay more or such...
I was possibly considering ordering another phal from them, no WAY! sorry *hugs*
