Wow! Ordering once a month.... what a great idea!
I only ordered 2 plants on my first order but I think I should make it larger just to be polite, otherwise they might think I don't like their orchids and I hate to hurt anyone's feelings
Note: Haven't killed the Huntleya wallissi yet. It seems quite happy. I am going to order another Huntleya.

I would cancel the plan and come down to Portland. I think it is more important. Hehehe!

It would be $160.00 round trip airfare plus two days off from work!

Careful on the mounted 'chids!
I've bought several orchids through the years and all have been delivered very well. I most recent only was a couple Encylias that were mounted and I noticed on one of my mounted encyclias there were numerous small holes all around the wood. They did not use cork bark but some other tougher wood, reminds me of some knot of old vineyards. Intially I thought these minute holes were made to help absorb water. After 2 months the greenhouse, I went to check on the encycia there was a black insect on the wood and another crawler. I was worried that they may be termites, so I sprayed some insecticide. I don't know if they will spread, so I'll have to isolate that encyclia.

I have started using cedar for mounting recently. I think most bugs probably will leave it alone. Except for the ants and the Myrmecophilias of course

I have not had good experience with Andy's, my first orchid, a large Maxillaria tenuifolia, came with bush snails in the roots. I eventually took care of the snail problem, and all was well.
However...I just ordered a Promenaea from him, and it came with moss packed so tight around the roots, I had to break most of them to remove it. However...that was not the worst thing...the worst thing was the small black spots on the Psudobulbs. At first, I thought they were old wounds caused by snails munching on the bulbs (go figure) but after a week, they have shown themselved to be bacterial rot spots, and are now all over the bulbs, and some have tripled in size. I'm gonna douse the thing with Phyton tomorrow incase Andy doesn't make this right, or doesn't reply to the Email I sent him.
Regardless of the outcome, I won't be ordering from him again.

I have 3 from Andy's and have had and passed on others. I finally realized that I don't do mounteds very well at all so I quit buying them ! Duh !!! It was the superman orchid grower stage and thank the force, I'm over it !! I LOVE the mini Lycaste campbellii and the Bulb. annandalei from him both potted, of course ! I'm still waiting on the Clowesia russelliana to bloom but it is a small plant and only had it a year. I ALWAYS buy from him at Longwood but I didn't see his name on this year's list, DARN !!!

I ordered four large previously bloomed species( Den; Vanda; 2 miniatures) from Andy's. It was mid winter. It arrived well packed and the plants were in great condition...no stress nor signs of being frozen in its travels...I got three calls from them: when they sent it out, the next day and when it arrived.
I will keep ordering orchids from them if they have what I want.

I will say that I've gotten plants from time to time from reputable growers that came with issues. I think it may just happen and necessarily because the growers are bad. It's just the way it happens from time to time.
