Not really an orchid vendor per se, but they do have awesome supplies.

Since I'm gonna be breaking my hiatus this month, I decided to buy some supplies from them after hearing about them here on OB. To cut a long story short, I was really impressed with how fast they processed and shipped my order. I expected my package to get here tomorrow, but it came yesterday. They even sent me some extra goodies (a couple of plant labels, some flower spike clips, and a fridge magnet).

The only con I can think of is the shipping, which ended up bolstering the cost of my order. Then again, that's kind of a problem with just about every vendor.

if it's potting materials the shipping will get you every time. In fact, sometimes the shipping will be more than the actual material

It's the same here in the UK. My favourite vendor for potting materials in the UK resists posting some of them because he doesn't think it's worth it for the postage, if he can persuade you to pick them up from a show instead he would far rather do that.

I have to say that I've used RePotme.com's stuff for over a year now. I absolutely love their supplies and mediums, though you are correct about the shipping costs. Unfortunatley, there is little that can be done about that.

They have always shipped extremely fast in my opinion, and have been very helpful. A few times I had bought some new orchids and wasn't sure what medium to pot them in and they did the research and helped me out.

And they aren't just out for money either! One time I asked them what would be an appropriate potting medium, and they emailed me back stating the mix I had bought from them a few months back (and named it) would be the appropriate mix.

All in all, I absolutely love them!

Let me tell you first all the things I love about repot me: they have excellent products, awesome mixes, and great customer service.

In these areas,they are top-notch.

Now let me tell you what I hate about repot-me. They don't offer shipping options. l don't need orchid supplies NOW. There's no orchid emergency for potting mixes. In fact, I learned to buy a variety of orchid supplies and keep them on hand. I have tons of pots, labels, etc.

In other words, I buy supplies now in anticipation of what I need. I've been in this hobby for four years now, and my days of experimentation are over. I know the supplies I use; I rarely buy something new as far as supplies to try out. I may try out a new type of pot hanger or something like that, I but I know what I need for what plants I have or I am going to get.

I'd love to buy some of their products--mainly their ever-last vanda baskets and their pots-in a pot, but I just can't justify the shipping any longer. This exact thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago with Tindara Orchids. They have these cool new hangers with hooks in the end. I was going to buy those but the shipping far outweighed the cost of the items.

I guess I must live close enough to Maryland (their office state) that the costs aren't that steep for me. I just did around a $75 order and the shipping was only around $10 which is fairly reasonable. I've paid more for shipment of orchids from the same distance.

However, from personal experience, shipping from St Louis, MO to FL is more expensive than when I ship packages to New York or Colorado.

I guess if you live close enough like I do, as long as you are placing a big order the shipment costs tend to balance themselves out. I would never order unless I was buying a lot at one time though.

I too love their products......but shipping from MD to OR Unfortunately there isn't anyone around locally I can just go pick the stuff up from. I used to order from Calwest but the quality of their medium has really gone downhill. So bad that I won't use it for anything but compost in the garden.

I'm not familiar with their shipping options, but being that this stuff tends to be rather bulky, I'm not sure there is a cheap way to ship it, in most instances.

One option you guys might want to keep open is checking for separate components at places like hydroponics shops, and garden centers, and just making your own mix

I do that as well, buying up bulk of what I will need on the future when I see it locally. But sometimes I really just like the materials they use as opposed to what I can find locally.
