That's the thing...they DON'T have shipping options. They only have one method of shipping!

Don't get me wrong, I don't balk at prices, especially when it's something that I want/need; however, I think it would behoove them to offer the customer more shipping options than what they currently do. That's all.

shipping is going to get even more expensive in our future with over inflated prices for gasoline..Its not going to go down anytime soon.
It will be time to join an orchid society and get in on some bulk deals and save money on materials and shipping...problem there is getting everyone on the same page at the same time..

always a "Depends on" in the crowd. and Depends are diapers

This may seem odd - me supporting a direct competitor - but offering a "single shipping option" may actually work to most folks' advantage.

I used to ship exclusively via the USPS, as it was my least-expensive option. As my business grew, FedEx offered me a discount making them slightly cheaper than the postal service, but I still offered the USPS option. After about a year, I analyzed the revenue provided to each of them, and found that if I shifted it all to FedEx, the discount grew significantly, making it considerably less expensive than the USPS, so that's what I did. Now that First Rays is in its 17th year of operation, and 10th with FedEx (UPS is not as generous and doesn't like plants), that difference is even greater.

I don't know RePotMe's policy, but I only pass on my discounted shipping rate, making absolutely nothing on that or "packing and handling". With my current FedEx discount structure, the cost to ship a package to St. Louis or Miami is one-half the cost of the USPS when shipping to a residence, and one-third of it when shipping to a business address!

Sure, I'll do USPS outside of the continental US and upon special requests for extreme situations, but it is not a standard option for domestic orders.

Default I dig repotme.com

I am a kinda-newbie and just learning all I can about orchids and orchid growing, but I have been impressed with the quality of the products from repotme.com and the customer service is great. The shipping for me is not terrible ($10), but I could see where anymore would make it difficult to justify in some instances. Overall, I have nothing negative to say about them...my plants love their mixes!
