Default Bela Vista Orchids in Brazil

Hi everyone!

Was wondering if anyone has done any business with Bela Vista orchids in Brazil? What has been your expereinces?
I've been trying to contact them for over a week about ordering some species Catts. I can't get them to answer
I've tried using my own email account as well as the email they provide on the site.

I wonder if they are just slow to respond? Maybe they just don't ship to America? Does anyone know?

Well, I'm not sure
The website is in English and it gives directions on how to make an account and order. It didn't say they don't ship to America.
It occured to me that maybe they don't export at all

Default Spanish??

"Do you know if they speak Spanish or English?"

Two points...are you one of the 40% of Americans who can find New York on a map?

Secondly...Spanish is not the language of Brazil...Portuguese is.

Oh! and a third for free...fortunately for us most people in the world speak some English. That's about like where I'm from where we speak SOME English and a lot of 8th grade redneck.

I'm not too smart but come on guys.

If their language is Portuguese, try writing a simple letter and translating it through Babel Fish.
AltaVista - Babel Fish Translation
It may not be perfect but you may just get a response.
Good Luck!

Bela Vista is a very reliable nursery, I have bought several times (the plants are a little bit small, but OK). They were in the last Redlands exhibition, so I think they (or at least someone) can read/speak english. You can try again, or mail me in pvt and I translate to portuguese for their.

DJ,
If you can't contact BVOrchids, try Zayra Machado ( marketing@ecoorquideas.com.br ) at EcoOrquídeas ( ecoorquideas ). They are english-speaking and experienced orchid exporters/importers.

Hello -
Kind of a day late with this reply, but I suspect that last May the Bela Vista folks were in FL for the Redlands Orchid Festival...I ordered some plants from them ahead of the festival, and they shipped them from Florida while at the festival.
Without exception, excellent quality and good sized plants, very healthy; species that are hard for me to find locally. They ship bare-root, and I think they have to be brought into the US with no medium around the roots.
However, I think they go to the Redlands most years, and you can ask to get their pre-order 'list' via e-mail.
Ordering this way means you don't have to worry personally about the import inspections, fees, etc.
The person I have emailed with is Antonio Schmidt, who speaks English quite well.
Cheers - Nancy
