To everyone that provided feed back for this vendor. Thanks it'll go along in my decision.

PaphMadMan and Ron.

That some very useful information both of you provided aside from the feed back I appreciate it.

Default One last question ok maybe two

Does J&L send out any kind of conformation that let's you know if your order has been mailed/shipped? And also do they have a certain shipping day?

I first bought from them in 1984. They've been a rock solid vendor all along. Sometimes the plants are a little small, but I've always thought they offered excellent value.
The other thing is that Cordelia, Marguerite and Lucinda are all really knowledgeable and glad to share their experiences with growers. Just can't say enough about them.
I have a wonderful plant that I got from them just coming into bloom now - I'll have a pic up in the next few days... Hmmm, probably time to place another order myself...

The Amherst Orchid Society had it's annual sale today and Cordelia Head from J&L was there with beautiful plants. I've bought from them before and their stuff has always done well. A Masdie Machu Pichu just bloomed for me today.

I got my first Order from J & L last week. I had no problem with the orchid. I only had a problem with the way it was shipped. In an old, broken down, used box that looked like it was drug outta the trash can. Not impressed. I would have thought this outfit would have better packaging material onhand than what they shipped my plant in. For what I paid for the orchid, I would have expected more.

I think J&L is a great vendor for plants. They are very knowledgeable about what they sell and will answer any question you have. Their plants are always well grown.
Just thinking about it, I don't thnk I've ever gotten a plant mail order that came in a new box. They've all come in used boxes. The shape of the box might be due to the shipper. Fragile or Handle with Care on the outside of the box always seems to invite trouble.

I bought a masdie heathii from them at the local show here the beginning of the month. Not a huge division, but VERY healthy. It was in spike, but the bloom blasted. I expected that since it had flown out here from CT, been handled by who knows how many people before me, then got transported in Feb. to MY not-a-greenhouse. The plant is doing wonderful though. I will definitely be ordering from them again.
