Trader Joes- return policy?
Hi,
I am new to orchid growing, and I recently bought an orchid at trader joes.
I wanted to learn more about orchids, so I join this forum.
My orchid is doing really bad. All the flowers have dropped.
The lady at trader joes said this would last 3 months, it has laster two days..
Do you think I can exchange for a new orchid? I dont think it was my fault because Ive had it for two days, and its in a bight location, 65% humidity, and great air flow.
I am thinking its over waters, because there are no drainage holes, but I dont know for sure.
Please tell me if they allow exchanges, because I really love orchids

What type of orchid is it? Phalaenopsis?
No drainage holes? That's odd... Any orchid pot should have many holes.
Like Help said before, sometimes when changing the environment, orchids loose their flowers and buds, while the plant is OK.
BUT you should be sure you have the right pot and the proper medium.

Trader Joes is really good about exchanging bad food or other items, I bet they will exchange it.

Usually their orchids look good. Probably it is a pot with holes inside a cache pot.
There has been a heat wave in the NE maybe that contributed. Or too much sun or water. Anyway maybe on the back of the receipt you can read the return policy...

hmmm ... I suppose it could depend on your location - Trader Joe's in different areas would have different orchid suppliers, but I have never seen an orchid at Trader Joe's in a pot without drainage. I also don't believe that they water them once they arrive. Tho again, that could vary by store.
It could be it was too long without water - or as someone suggested the change in environment caused it to drop blooms/buds ...
I don't know what the exchange/refund policy might be - can't hurt to ask Let us know what you find out

Just curious, Is trader Joes a retail store like Home Depot and Lowes or is it an orchid store or garden center?

From TJ I have an Onc Twinkle that is growing very nicely and a Miltonidium / Oncidium Rosy Sunset that looks very healthy... Both $9.99. I check their plants often and they look way healthier than most of what I see at HD or Ikea. They have a quick turnaround and most plants seem to sell within a week.
Usually they are in slotted clear pots inside a slotted eco pot.
