Ok, not sure the best place to post this, but my Hubby has seen a warning on another forum (not orchid related) about a scam being used in relation to their clasifieds section.
As far as I know this has not been a problem on OB, but I want to warn our members to try and ensure no-one gets caught by it if someone does try the same thing over here.
Basically what happens is that someone is registering on forums with names very similar to those of traders posting clasified adds. This scammer then finds people who have made offers on items in the classified section but been turned down by the trader. He/she then sends a PM to the person claiming to be the original trader and that they have changed their mind and want to go ahead with the tade. They arrange payment but you never get your goods.
Basically this is someone masquerading as a genuine users/trader, often by having the same username with just a dot added to the end of the genuine name.
Here is a link the the post on the AV forum which has reported a problem with this.
