And with that...I sell a few plants on Ebay. Extras and lost tag stuff. I'm honest and ship exactly what I've described.

I think if I was shipped the plant that was photographed I'd be mad enough to make a road trip.
The odd thing is that this vendor has no negative feedback...until now, of course

I'm sure Eric is not trying to pull a "fast one", he was really looking forward to getting his plant...he's very newly addicted

I hope things get worked out favorably...but even so, this is one vendor who has irreparable damage to his/her business

I firmly believe he was duped. I believe he ha every right to go after her/him. I hope that the "powers that be" realize exactly went on.

I would file an immediate dispute with paypal.

To me, being sent a seedling for a blooming-sized plant is being duped. There's a big difference between the two!

I can't imagine why anyone would post on here about a problem unless the problem was real, and the seller was full of, uh, nonsense. If I received a plant from ANY source, eBay, regular internet vendor, local seller, in this condition I would raise utter hades with them.

Sometimes filing a claim doesn't result in anything more then a he said/she said kind of a situation and ends up making the situation kind of worse. I guess I find rather then trying to argue with the person who did wrong to just give the negative feedback and cut my losses and never buy from that person again.

Ya know if you paid by credit card, if PayPal doesn't make it right, dispute the charge with your credit card company. No sense paying $30 for a dead plant. Does the orchid's tag have the sellers company name on it?

I knew I had seen this name before. I purchased a Cattleya. Blc. Keowee 'Newberry' from this seller and the plant didn't come in the best condition either. Roots were gone and half of it rotted this was back in July of last year. It's making a comeback now with 2 new growths but it's far away from being fine. I never bought from them again.

Now I'm curious

We have a few folks saying they were not happy with this vendor's plants in the past...why is there no negative feedback on their ebay rating?

There are 2 neutrals, one a Paph that arrived with no roots and the other claiming a spike was cut to make it fit the box.

Sue, there are folks who are afraid of leaving negative feedback. It USED to be that vendors could leave negative feedback for buyers, too, and so always waited until the buyer left feedback so they could then retaliate if necessary. In fact, I once received a damaged item, disputed it with the seller, the seller insisted I'd have known about the damage if I'd asked (item was described as "New, Mint Condition", so what's to ask?), and so refused to refund or replace. So I left a negative. After I did, the seller left a negative for me. While eBay no longer allows sellers to leave negative feedback, a lot of buyers are so amped to get a positive feedback that they will leave the seller a positive even if the transaction is less than satisfactory.

It's SUPPOSED to be that once the buyer has paid, then the buyer's end of the transaction is complete and the seller should leave feedback. Very, very rare sellers actually do this. Almost all wait until the buyer leaves theirs. To me, a seller that waits is a less than scrupulous seller - though I only know of about one seller who actually handles feedback correctly! If anyone reading this sells on eBay and handles feedback in any other way, then I must say I won't be buying from you (more than once), no matter how good a person you are.

Bottom line, though, a whole lot of buyers simply either are afraid to leave a negative or are essentially too lazy to be bothered doing so. It's why the whole rating system on eBay is so utterly absurd.
