Ronald, I grew up in New York and moved to Calif. at 17 years old where I lived until just a few years ago. I remember rain making the headlines in L.A. I hope you're right and I'm just forgetting what a biggy deal the unexpected weather has been to those not used to it.

Paul, you're such a New Yorka and I love it!

Where exactly in N. CA does she live? Yes, there has been some bad weather and there are currenty chain restrictions on several roads, but that applies only to the higher elevations in select areas, and aren't really that long of a stretch of road.

With the number of excuses and the length of delay, I'd be suspicious of the truth behind the excuse. Wouldn't hurt to do a quick weather.com search to see what condtions are really like in her town before leaving feedback. It is possible she's telling the truth, but I'm skeptical.

I live just across the Cali border in Oregon, and Ron is right. People who have moved up from the southern part of the Cal freak the minute the first flake hits the ground. I lived in Alturas CA for 10 years where we routinely had 10-18" of snow on the ground all winter and on into the spring. I know how to drive in the snow but I hesitate going out here because the dorks here don't know how to drive in the snow. They think they can still drive 50 because they have 4-wheel drive and snow tires. They don't realize the tires just turn into big ice skates. That's how I got rear ended 2 years ago.

That said it's still no excuse for not communicating with you. If you get a free orchid out of the deal I'd say you're ahead. I just hope she knows how to pack em' warm.

This is what went on here .
I ordered a book for Christmas from e bay , paid Nov. 15th thru pay pal . waited no book , sent an email no reply , then got one saying there had been family trouble and it would be sent the day after Thanksgiving Fri . or on Mon .
I waited ,still no book, or replies to more polite emails, also called seller got an answering machine .
Woke up Wed. Am . ticked off contacted pay pal can file a complaint but have to wait up to 10 days to file a $ claim (jump thru. hoops ) Called my card company and got the charge removed . They also had 100 % feed back . Ebay is not a lot of help pay pal is not either, they want you to open communication with the seller fine if the seller communicates . Call your credit card carrier .. Anyone who purchases anything through Ebay should understand that neither Ebay or Paypal (they are the same company) is much help. They only give you a percentage back if they cannot get the money back from the seller, and only over $200 if I remember and you are out your postage fees, which are usually quite high. I do buy stuff on Ebay, but only if I have to. I'm not a big fan.

I think for the future, you might just want to order your Latourias from H&R. Best selection of these and never any problems! Maybe Im just a snob, but no ebay sellers get my business. Only reputable dealers for me.

I would get my $ back....I think Ebay started freezing funds not too long ago. I sold something on there, and Ebay would not release the payment to me until either a)I received positive feedback from the buyer, or b) delivery was confirmed. They have a place in "My Ebay" where you go to enter the tracking number, and funds will be released after one of these criteria are met. They implemented this to have more power to protect the buyer , in this case....you. You should not have a problem.

I never buy insurance and that's because I usually buy from the same vendors and they have always included a tracking number; this vendor did not because I asked her for it. I think (I'm really hoping) that I've just been suspicious because I'm feeling dreadfully down lately since my kitty passed. I think I'm just attracting a lot of negative that (hopefully) really doesn't exist.

One thing I did that I don't usually do is paid for this (through ebay) but with a credit card, not a direct debit from my checking account. Maybe, if I do get ripped, I'll be able to dispute the charge through the credit card, don't know yet.

Steve, next time it is H&R. I agree, they have the most pristine orchids, Latourias and the rest.
