Thumbs up Casa de las Orquideas

Hello everyone... I order Cymbidium dug-ups from Loren Batchman every summer, but I'd never ordered any of his "established" seedlings before. After his articles on spotted cymbidiums in the CSA journal, and the subsequent ad in the new CSA journal for spotted meristems/seedlings, I thought I'd give it a go. Here are a few pics--the first is the range of what I got (pardon the gh mates peeking through at the sides and back...); the second shot is about average for the size plant that was shipped. I am very pleased--I was imagining smaller plants, so it was a surprise when a "big" box arrived with the post. It makes me wonder what the 6" seedlings will look like when I order again after his Spring releases come out. Definately 2 BIG thumbs up!
Adam

Yes and no...the entire east side is pretty much dominated by cacti(which take up very little room and will soon be moved) and my large plants that spend the summer outdoors (which i need to figure out a better system for storing...perhaps cut the majority back and store in my basement over the winter--though I like having the bananas growing all winter, and the brugmansias will bloom profusely while it is bleak out there). My benches are full for the moment, though most of what is on them will be heading to the society raffle; I am going to focus most of my efforts on cymbidiums, and weed out the majority of my masdevallias and cattleya hybrids.

Those are beautiful plants. I got a sprouted backbulb (the largest cymbidium pseudobulb that I've ever seen, by the way) of Cym. Len Southward from Loren two years ago and it's now throwing out its first spike. He's got good plants and always seems willing to take the time to answer his emails and address any questions he gets. Might have to go order a couple more plants from him, now that I think of it and look over the great seedlings you received.

LOL...the only problem to this scenario is that most of the stuff that I grow (aside from Den. moniliforme, a few paphs & my Neos) is big; I don't think it would fit into Ross's tank

Thanks but no thanks, Adam. I already have a Phaius in a large 12" pot that hasn't flowered in almost 2 yrs.....you can have mine! I was thinking more on the line of those catts you don't want slinking around the GH....maybe they could come down here for a viist....do they do mice?????? Or even some of those beautiful Masdis...... brighten up things until the phals open up....what do you think...should I leave now....I can be there in 4 hrs!!!!
