I note that you live in Arkansas and Hummerts has locations in St. Louis and also in Springfield. I haven't ordered from them for some time since moving to the west coast but they used to handle a broad line of orchid supplies.

Thanks Jerry, they do have a nice variety. The charcoal only comes in 50# bags, though. Can't imagine paying shipping on that!! Still, I might get everything else there and find a smaller quanity of charcoal somewhere else.

I get my charcoal at Home Depot and I also like ordering from Tropical Plant Products as you can't beat the prices. However, TPP doesn't take credit cards, so you have to send a check out and the whole process takes a little time. You save money, though, if you have the time. I also love repotme.com but the shipping is a little high.

I have used several of the vendors mentioned by Ross with good results. With this heavy and inexpensive stuff shipping is the killer. Look for someone that charges what it costs, possibly with a fixed "Packing charge." In this respect I like RePotMe, Quarter Acre Orchids, and FirstRays. I've been shocked by the shipping but never felt ripped off. Remember, the first pound on UPS or FEDEX can run upwards of $7-8.
I would look at farm supply stores, big box stores (home Depot, Walmart, Lowes), ask at florists, sometimes they might be willing to add something for you in their order or tell you of a place to order driving distance away. You must be able to find most of this stuff in Arkansas being such a big agricultural state since this stuff is used elsewhere than on orchids (perhaps not special hanging gear.)
