No thanks. I have purchased lots of stuff from these guys, but always marginal. Never thrifty, great plants (Like, say Parkside). I've purchased in person at shows, and I can't recall ever getting one of these guys into bloom. I've struggled with just about every plant I've kept and threw away lots. Sorry, I just don't get it here. Too much money for what is being offered.

Yeah, I'm not quite getting it either. And there are a number of red flags in the terms of sale. Just thought someone other than me might get a little amusement out of these "collections."

Man, I would totally splurge if I had the funding! Only on the Stanhopinae collections though. Ive never bought from these guys and even with Ross' comments, I think I would do it! Did anyone else see the Peristeria elata x Zygopetalum hybrid??????????? That alone would fetch a pretty penny from me!!

Have you purchased from these guys before? You might want to check them out. Only comment I plan to make.

No I havnt purchased from them..... I probably wouldnt either with the bad press Ive read about them, but still, their Stanhopinae collection is quite impressive! Just a little early morning overly caffeinated exuberance! Once the buzz wears off Ill probably lose my enthusiasm for Stans and go splurge on some encyclias at H&R! Their new list is out and Im hoping I can catch a glance at their blooming Catt dowianas!

I'll second Ross's comment. H&R is so far and away a better company than, um, some others that I wouldn't hesitate to spend my money on those encyclias you mentioned--or, heaven forbid, a flowering C. dowiana (and if you swing by H&R and acquire a flowering dowiana, I do NOT want to hear about it ).

lol I actually already bought a dowiana from them a few years back and should be posting pics of its first bloom some time in the next few months ( ). Since they are still selling the same batch, I want to see what I might get!

I haven't bought any of their dowianas (already have four that I've purchased from other vendors that are hopefully getting close to flowering size), but I did spend quite a bit on one of their large C. amethystoglossas that is just now starting to show the beginnings of buds within the dry sheath (also bought a large C. nobilior from them which, thanks to my expert care, quickly went to orchid heaven). But I was just kidding about the flowering dowianas. PLEASE upload a couple of pictures if you find any there! And since we've completely gotten off topic, would you mind uploading a pic of your own dowiana? I'm just trying to get a feel for how big mine have to get before they will (perhaps grudgingly) provide me with some blooms.

You've got an amethystoglossa in bud in October?? I thought my blooming purpurata was wierd!! If I get down to H&R, Ill try and remember to bring my camera. I will also take pics of my dowiana in the morn. Its in sheath right now, but it started cranking out another growth about a month or so ago, which means Ill have to wait a while for flowers. Hopefully 2 sets of blooms!! I thought dowianas were going to be difficult to grow, but mine (I have 2 other seedlings) wont stop growing!!
