I'm really excited about the Hausermann sale. I'm actually moving back to Chicago in about a week, so I plan on going there in person when I get back. I figured I can fit more in my car than I care to have shipped to me!!! Hausermann's plants have always been excellent quality for me - and their customer service is top-notch. I enjoy getting their shipments because I know they always take excellent care in packaging - they really care about their plants. So, I made a "shopping list" of all the ones I want to purchase - I'm really excited to go there in person again! It'll be my second visit

I wish I could go to places like Hausermann's in person, but don't have a car (I'm in the process of getting my license). Plus, I'd probably need a pick-up truck, which will be extremely difficult to find parking for in NYC.

Once I get a my license and car, and move to a larger place, you'll be able to spot me a mile away on the road because of all the orchids in the back of my vehicle

Oh yours is an easy fix. If he counts them, tell him buying orchids makes you feel sexy! What boyfriend can argue with that! Thank you, thank you very much!

OMG Kiki!!! That's the best one yet! I'm going to use that one for sure. How can he argue with that? I've heard the best stories in this thread! I'm glad I'm not alone.

Adlemsi, I really like the lengths you go to to hide your new orchids! I was laughing sooo hard. Work address! Why didn't I think of that???

The Orchid Shuffle...a little devious perhaps? I find it the art of ingenuity. And I insist on breathing good quality air and it doesn't get any better than good ol orchid air. After all, I'm worth it.
Whew, I'm gonna need bigger boots, "it's" getting a little deep in here.
My birthday is coming up before the sale ends. Do you think it would be too subtle to send family members exactly what I would like from Hausermann's? If I send emails out to all my relatives, even those I haven't seen since childhood, it will almost cover all the orchids I have on my "Hausermann's want list!"
What do you think, too tacky?

Ooh, I just did that last week!!! My birthday is at the end of August and I have a wish list on TheThingsIWant.com (really cool website to make a wish list of anything you want online). I sent the link to my boyfriend. When he saw it he was like "What's with all the orchids?" He still hasn't seen how my collection has grown in the past month...boy is he in for a surprise!

Today I received my Onc. Sweet Sugar from Hausermann's!!!!!!!

It's actually an Onc. Sweet Sugar 'Million Dollar'. It's in bud with a few open blooms (with more opening). It's SO PRETTY!!

I told my family my boyfriend gave it to me from my wish list. I figured it would be more believable than the vendor freebie excuse I was planning on using (I'm still keeping that excuse for the future). I gave my boyfriend a heads up so he doesn't give the lie away the next time he stops by. I told him it was a win-win situation: I won't get yelled at for getting another orchid and he earns points with my family for being such a sweet, romantic boyfriend

I promised him it would be my last orchid purchase, and it will be for now. It'll take a me a while to replenish my newly created Orchid Savings Fund. I've come really close to draining my savings, buying orchids and supplies. Once I get a substantial amount saved, the orchid buying will start all over again. My plan is to have a collection of orchids with blooming times for all the seasons. That way I can always have a group of orchids in bloom throughout the year. It will take me a while (and a lot of money), but I won't give up.

Here are pics of my newly acquired Onc. Sweet Sugar 'Million Dollar' and my fast-blooming Onc. Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance'. Almost all the top buds on the Sharry Baby have bloomed. It's scent is still very subtle, you have to sniff right next to it to smell it. I haven't noticed a scent on the Sweet Sugar, but I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow morning
