There are more things wrong with the name. For example, you can't give a variety to a hybrid. In this context. v. coerulea really doesn't make sense, although it does convey that it is supposed to be the 'blue form' of the cross. Not the right way to write it... Not that this seems to stop people, everybody seems to do it.

Regardless... It is notoriously difficult to photograph 'blue' flowers. The picture you found is probably closer. Most 'blue' orchids are really lavendar. Some are blueish grey. This is a link I found to what I think of when I think coerulea form of anything: Lc. Mini Purple http://www.tropiflora.com/creport/cr14-2/3290.jpg

I'll testify to that! Blue is the hardest color to capture accurately. So many things swing the camera away from the accurate color - color of the sky, time of day, nearby objects, etc. When a person wants to capture an accurate blue, they really need to spend hours setting up the photo, screening the sky, making sure the lighting is accurate, etc. With today's digital cams, red and green are captured pretty accurate. Blue is the "outside dog" so-to-speak. Blues are not generally the colors people care about (except with blue flowers). So imagers aren't set up to emphasize blues. Sorry.

Photoshopped beyond belief! My unfortunate experience with this seller is that he "lifts" photos from other websites to help sell his plants (including one of mine a year or so ago). That's unethical and illegal.

The photo in question here has been obviously manipulated. There are many colors that are difficult to capture digitally, but if someone is using photos to sell their flowers and can't get the colors correct, they should hire someone who can.

Hi Deborah

I bought a Paph from him once and was happy with it.

I'm going to move this thread into the Vendor Feedback forum

I may have. The company is usually at the Grand Rapids show as well as in Traverse City later in the year. I don't recognize the company name, but I'll keep an eye out for them and check out their stuff if you can wait till Sunday. I'll be there Saturday.
