I really hate Mosaic Virus as it is a problem in so many types of plants.
Mosaic Virus is a problem because it spreads from plant to plant and within a plant very quickly. When I first began to grow orchids, some plants could be used as 'Indicator Plants' as they would show symptoms of mosaic virus very quickly after infecting them with it but these plants are all now resistant so they cannot be used for that purpose.
Corn, tomatoes, bedding plants and many other commercially sold plants are being bred to be resistant to the virus. Even if they are infected by it, they will not show symptoms and will continue to produce (perhaps with a little less vigor). The reason these plants are being bred to be resistant is because mosaic virus is everywhere. I sometimes wonder how bark sold for potting orchids can be guaranteed free of the virus...is it baked or boiled to make certain it is sterile? I think the answer is that orchids need to be bred to be resistant to the virus, too.

I bought two long time wishlist orchids couple days ago and it's due to shipment next week and I can't wait for them. I personally avoiding buying any orchid online especially Etsy at all cost because of the terrible history I had with the site, but a friend from the orchid society convinced me so.

I have purchased from Triton orchids in the past and would absolutely do it again. They were great to work with and the plants were much larger than expected.

I did not have a good experience with this vendor. I ordered a fragrant, splash-petal Phal-type Dendrobium. It was not registered but the reviews were good so I went ahead. The orchid arrived healthy but, after a couple of months, when it bloomed, it was definitely not what I had ordered and I was very disappointed. I contacted the vendor, he promised to send the correct orchid but, after quite some time, nothing has been sent. If he ever makes this right, I will update. I have included a picture of what was advertised and the orchid in bloom.

I have had very similar experiences lately too, Leafmite. I'm not sure what is going on but I received dead orchids, wrong orchids, no orchids for over a month .....I feel like I should remove this post. It's been consistently disappointing the past few months.

I hope you will leave it up so that others can be forewarned and go with one of the more reliably good vendors. I usually do all I can to defend vendors as I worked in both a wholesale greenhouse and a retail greenhouse as a teenager and then had very good experiences with other vendors...and have gotten to know a few through my orchid society. I found all of them to be very good people and, yet, we are all human so everyone of us can make a mistake. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, this vendor has made no effort to fix the mistake. Others should know so they do not waste their money.

I did contact him after some time had passed after letting him know of the issue to ask him to send me tracking information as the weather had begun to turn cooler (hint hint). I will try again but I think it is a lost cause and I have wasted my money there. I am not going to complain to Etsy but I will definitely never buy from him again or recommend him to anyone in my orchid society.

If you file a claim it gets you on his radar and he will respond. If you can't get him that way shoot me a pm. He's a nice guy just hasn't been good service this year like it used to be. If you can get a hold of him he is good about making it right it's a matter of taking a lot of time and fingers crossed getting the correct orchid. I hope you are able to get things rectified!
