Will this Psychopsis (Oncidium Mendenhall ‘Hildos’) make a comback?

Hello everyone.

I order a Oncidium Mendenhall ‘Hildos’ and got it yesterday and to my disappointment it was in bad shape. The new growth was rotted and all I am left with is the old growth and some roots. I did get partial refund from seller and will not be buying again from them. This plant should have not being send at all. Well the question is, do you think this plant could come back with loving tender care? or should I just trash it and move on?

If the old growth and roots are firm, it's possible. If you have the space to nurse it, worth giving it a chance. It is in pretty rough shape though, so don't feel bad if it doesn't survive. Yes, the vendor should not have sent it, and they should have refunded the whole thing.

It seems to me that it it was being shipped from a cold area it should have had a heat pack. That does look a lot like cold damage (but also some rather old withered pseudobulbs)

It was from a seller on Etsy- the store name: Plant Addict, is my first time buying plants from a seller and not a nursery and I learned my lesson. When I contacted the seller I got most of the cost refunded with out questions asked, she then send me a message apologizing for the poor condition of the plant. She has good reviews, so I thought I would get a good looking plant and I also know that things happen and so I am putting this on my life lessons file.

Roberta it was shipped from NC. I suspect that it had some neglect prior to shipping, the media was old and it still had the foam from when it was a (plug) seedling.
I will try to rehab since I have the time and space to do it, will see what happens and test my nursery skill .
I will keep you posted.
