WW ------ if you can provide just one single link to a thread/post that shows power tripping from me (and I'm not even a mod), then that would be really great.

In my own defense, it was Roberta who provided me with that link to look at.

Southpark, I agree with you that we should be spreading any helpful information that affects our orchids health.

The rule seems a bit overprotective of sellers - if a seller is good then the good reputation should outweigh any made up reviews.

But SP, If it makes you feel better WW has given me 3 warning infractions this week.

She is on a roll. How many have you received, I haven't moaned about it. I know she just needs to get it out her system and although I wish some members would be nicer, passive aggressiveness is tolerated and the only way to voice yourself without being offensive and receiving an infraction. ME, I say it how it is and although it hasn't been me being out of order it seems to be me getting told off. You go figure.

What I don't understand in all of this is you live in Australia SP and this shop is in the states so even if you do find out which shop it was, you will never shop there anyway lol

One point is to limit people from joining groups solely to bash competitors. It does happen.

Another point is to prevent bad reviews from beginners who don't know what to expect with a plant shipment.

But the bottom line is abiding by rules set. We're guests. Orchid growing isn't life or death. It's supposed to be a pleasant hobby.

Shade - thanks for your post. After reading the information from that link that Roberta pasted up, the bulk of the details there makes sense - in terms of cutting down on chances that good sellers aren't taken down (or significantly negatively impacted) due to misunderstandings, or due to malicious intent etc.

And also avoiding 'legal' implications ----- the board that is.

I don't recall ever getting an infraction before. I didn't know that you got three this week! I didn't see any post from you that was deserving of an infraction though, or anything like that.

True! The shop is over in the U.S. ........ and information about which seller it is allows all of us to know that something can be done about dealing with particular sellers that are truly not respecting customers.

It is true that it's generally important to have a very good and accurate account of both sides of the story. Usually, if a particular seller is mentioned, and that seller has generally been good, then other members or customers (real customers, not 'affiliated' or related to the seller) will jump in and do some defending.

It's ok WW. As it's xmas time, I won't do anything like that - such as to PM Marty and/or Camille in order to have you removed, as that just spoils the xmas spirit. I'll wait until the new year to do this - to have you removed. But of course, that was only a joke. In general - the work you and Roberta have actually done with moderating - volunteered - has been very good. Nobody is going to remove you for doing generally highly-commendable volunteered mod work. Just avoid some power-tripping, and don't fabricate false negative information (about breaking rules etc) about me - and everything will be nice thereafter. Also - this is only making a mole-hill out of a mole-hill. It's not a mountain out of a mole-hill.

Default I will say their name so others are warned

..."What was their entire delayed response to the pictures I sent of everything?

"Checked-just mislabeled. Plants look healthy."

They are a big well known firm ..."

I recognize the response you got! I had the same experience at orchids.com and got the same "plant looks healthy" response, (i.e., too bad for you.) Granted, I purchased a number of perfectly healthy orchids from this site, but the customer service is absolutely abysmal if you do encounter a problem and they DO NOT stand behind their orchids, as you and I both found out. I no longer purchase orchids from Norman's Orchids at orchids.com.

I think an exception to the rule should be made to allow anyone to spread the truth about orchids.com / norman's orchids. Also I've realized many orchid people are better off just conversing with their plants.

Honestly, I would have also raved about Norman’s before I got “taken advantage of.” They do have an incredible selection. But, having said that, it’s just not worth the risk to me to buy from them anymore. There are too many great sites to shop: Housermann’s, Natt’s, Belle Danse, Odom’s, Sunset Valley Orchids … reliable one and all AND they stand behind their orchids.

Quick note only. I forgot to mention that - us members can certainly be involved with amending of words in the announced rules ------ such as making it known to members that they don't need to state their full real name in their post --- for safety considerations. Member safety/identity protection that is. LINK
