Default UK vendors (after Brexit)

I'm desperate for a Rhynchostylis Gigantea or Retusa, but from what I can see, I can't find any being sold that will deliver to the UK. I know Burnham's had some a while ago but I'm not sure if they'll get them back in stock.

If anyone knows of any vendors that sells either of these plants, please say.

As a side note, I've ordered from Burnham's, Elite Orchids and Writhlington Orchids and they've been great. The rest of my collection have come from garden centres, and pre-brexit, Orchid Garden.

It might be worth contacting Burnhams to see if they have any in stock. Other than that it's going to be a long wait until EU suppliers start UK shipments. There are some resellers on Ebay - but my experience has not been great. Individual growers have been excellent though.

I haven't seen any for sale in the UK.

I got a couple of "seedlings" just before brexit but they are still a good 5 years away from blooming size.

But they get big, like 60 cm leaf span big. You don't realize how much space that takes up till you have a plant that size. Considering they are amongst the hottest growing orchid with them needing a lot of space they are not the easiest to keep happy.

But there are a few I have on my wish list myself that will be hard to source so I am placing all my hope into attending the planned orchid trade shows coming up next year. There should be traders from europe attending a couple of them. There was supposed to be one this weekend but that was cancelled and so the next one is next year again. I think your chances of finding one there will be best.

My sister's boyfriend owns an event company which he's helping with Chelsea and Hampton, he said he'd be able to maybe get me a placement. At the very least he could give me a high-vis and said just look busy. I may follow him up on it because I've wanted to go for a while now to those events and some vendors don't want to take all their plants back with them either!

I'm just following him up on it now. He also said he may be able to just get me a free ticket with no work, so that'd be even better! It would be nice to see plants and gardens outside of orchids also. Fingers crossed!

I think it extremely unlikely we shall see EU vendors here in the UK. Sheer cost of DEFRA import CITES with additional phytosanitary charges will make plants very expensive. Also, the EU nurseries would need to generate the paperwork and costs for taking unsold stuff back into the EU, and it has been established that even the UK end of that return process will take up to 6 weeks.

The UK as a whole has bad taste, change my mind!

I'll post some pics in the relevant area when I see some changes in my cymbidium.

It would/is be bland without European vendors! The UK has some really fantastic vendors I'll go back to, but their selection is limited. The UK doesn't have the gigantic European greenhouses that go for acres and acres unfortunately.
