Cyrtopodium punctatum in the Everglades

I have read the huge plant shown in a dead tree in the series of banner photos near the top of the page was killed by a recent hurricane.

Excellent. Like Roberta, I got the saccatum from a couple of years back and it is fabulous. Absolutely one of my favorite Catasetums with huge, elegant, waspy, well shaped and well spaced flowers. Strong grower and easy bloomer too, unlike my denticulatum which is still alive but constantly giving me a headache for the past 3 years.

I was thrilled to see all of the species on the two Catasetum releases. Pretty sure I got them all- a fimbriatum, sanguinium, pileatum, spitzii, tenebrosum, thylaciochila, and cooperi. Also got some fun looking hybrids, really looking forward to the Mormodes ones (never had much luck with those in the past), and threw the Cyrt. punctatum in my shopping cart for the hell of it.
