First order from SVO; possible project idea?
After seeing so many glowing reports from Sunset Valley Orchids, I decided to give it a shot. Went with 2 mini catts, number tags 8038 (in the front) and 7800 (in the back). These plants are super healthy, I even see new root tips growing. A friend of mine also wanted 7800 so I got two 2 of those. It's interesting seeing 2 sibling plants side by side. Already, without blooms, I see differences between the two. So this got me wondering...
Has there ever been a project with a bunch of sibling hybrid plants? Would anyone like to hop on and get a mini catt 7800 and join our two-man project?
For the record, the heat mat is not on in the picture. I just didn't want them resting on the carpet for the moment

Good looking plants!
I would suggest writing out the names of the parents here, along with the cross number. The numbers are on the Web site as long as those plants are in stock, then the numbers vanish. I haven't found a way to look up old SVO numbers.

Ah, didn't know that, thanks for the heads up. The number is SVO 7800. The full name of the cross is Pot. NEW HYBRID (Pot. Candy Flare 'Candy' x Pot. Denis Roessiger 'Xmas Candy')

The cross numbers remain also in the archives, and you van use google to search for a cross number within the website, and it will bring you to the archive page it is in. For example, I using a random cross in the archives, search for:
SVO 7691 site:.sunsetvalleyorchids.com
I use this site specific searching a lot, expecially for Orchidboard since the search function within the forum isn't that great.
As a side note, I wish I could participate, but I'm on the wrong side of the pond....

I recently discovered that there is someone who arranges group orders/exports from SVO to Europe but it has been put on hold due to covid. I don't think that would have helped much for this project as I'm guessing these group orders are probably arranged once or twice a year at most.

If SVO shipped to me, I would be bankrupt - but very happy.

The person Camille is referring to is Sam Tsui from Orchid Inn.
When he's making international orders, he comes to Europe with all the paperwork and ships from Germany.
I'm not sure how Brexit changes the rules, but it might be worth looking into!

Having a large greenhouse, I often do this by myself (I order 4, 6 or more of the same item). I have just updated an old thread in the Cattleya forum, see 'Sibling Rivalry'.

If there's an old SVO product number that you are trying to look up and can't find, just send an email. Fred is extremely responsive.
