Never received the email and I'm on the mailing list. Oh well. Congrats on the plants you got. I'm going through the website and making a list. Hope that he still has most of the ones I want. I have 7960, 7878 and Laelia zip on my list.

Ahh... I couldn't resist getting a few, especially since that email came to me on my birthday. One was sold out but they put in two similar plants with spikes in its place, so excited for those. Always great plants!

It's not fair to turn the tags so we can't read them.

Mine came last night. I've been waiting for the mini catts, so I went a little nuts 😜 Pot. Legendary 'SVO' x Pot. Loretta Rehmann 'SVO' arrived in bloom and one Slc. Sun Circle 'SVO A plus' x Slc. Mini Apricot 'Scarlet Passion' HCC/AOS was in bud.

Default 3" spotted cattleyas

Hi I have heard nothing but rave reviews of Sunset Valley Orchids. I also ordered from them for the first time and will be getting the orchids on Weds. I ordered 3" spotted cattleyas and I was wondering when they are expected to bloom.

It depends on the ancestry. These are all unflowered seedlings. Most of the spotted crosses should bloom in 2022, 2023 or 2024. The ones with C. leopoldii or amethystoglossa are on the later part of the range. Guarianthe/Cattleya aurantiaca ancestry shortens the wait.

Being a newbie, I didn't realize being in 3" pots means blooming next year at the earliest. What a bummer!

The price was also a clue.

Totally worth the wait and when they bloom you will feel more a sense of accomplishment.

One big benefit of buying Fred's plants is you learn what healthy seedlings should look like. I highly recommend you take photos of each plant so you can look back at them and compare to how you're doing.

Fred has excellent growing conditions, with a long growing season and longer, sunnier winter days than in most of the country. He fertilizes his seedlings a lot more than do most other people. He has detailed cultivation information on his Web site.
