What a wonderful surprise! Grow it like a Vanda.

Shopping on their website is as far as I go. If I went there, I would probably impulse buy.

What a terrible problem to have!

I got my first orchids ever from Orchids by Hausermann, in the spring of 1975. Hmm. I must have been about 3 at the time. Yeah, 3. We'll go with that.

That was the first of many mail orders, and I've been to the greenhouse dozens of time, though not in recent years. Never a bad experience.

I just noticed this from October 24. Neos are extremely succulent plants, and can go without water for weeks before they drop leaves to any significant extent. However, they will suffer quickly and drop leaves when they are too cool and too wet at the same time. That is far more likely at this time of year.

What have your temperatures been? Light? What is it potted in? How have you been watering?

My favorite plant in the entire universe!
Be nice to it.

The Neofinetia is in the house and temps have varied but it has generally been warm until yesterday when I had to turn on the heater for the first time in many months. However, the leaf dropping started before the temperature dropped. I generally water once a week but check the media and if it is too dry I might water 2X a week. It gets light from a north facing window. I pulled it out of the media and most of the roots are dried up. That's why I think I should have been watering more often.

It's potted in a bark mixture (the media that Hausermann shipped it in).

Remember, Neos are little Vandas. And Vandas will drop leaves to conserve water, since they don't have pseudobulbs. They need a wet-dry cycle, but the dry part should not be for very long, especially if it is relatively warm (house temps) If outside, they can get somewhat drier in winter (when they're experiencing temperatures down into the low 40's F) but even then, if it warms up during the day I still water normally.
