Mine don't dry out, but they do get the "cycle". If you're really dry (or don't water often), the water soak can work. I water pretty much daily in summer, every other day in winter (and have Ddc. tenellum in sphag in that basket) so I tend to be more concerned with "too wet" than "too dry". It's all in matching your practices with the objective...

Don't grow in cup o'water but since the medium is fine bark and some s/m it stays moist enuf. Sounds like you want to repot? Sure you can just plop it into another container without it giving you the evil eye...but I warned you.

Somewhere I read the cup of water. It might have been from the website. It did say never to water from the top. Yes, I'd like to repot and use a little moss around the sides. First I have to find an appropriate pot. I generally use clay but, that might not be a good choice here.

If a plant can be slightly forgiving, I'm ok. But last year all heck broke loose around here, my watering got too sporatic, and I lost several plants, a couple that I really liked, too. I want to be very cautious here.
