Mine sit on edge of growlights and kept very moist. They like to be potbound and I found that out the hard way-1 sulked for 2 yrs after a repot and after thinking it was from bad culture I did read it somewhere that this is what they do. My kittie Lola just gives all the plants a sniff. Kind of like the Pope's blessing with holy water. Dendrochilum - Introduction is a good site.

I have looked at that site a lot. Mine is pretty potbound and in bark. I was going to find a low pot and use moss.

It looks so happy, maybe leave it as is? I have seen some really showy ones, in impossibly small pots with a cascade of leaves covered with those spikes of teensy flowers. I know one gal who always brings a spectacular one to shows, she transports it with a band of garden velcro holding it vertical so that nothing gets mooshed, then when the velcro is removed there's a cascade.

Ladies, It's pretty potbound. Very pot bound. But, I set it in a pan of water and it's under Oncidium level light. It feels heavy and damp. I'd rather it was in moss but, I defer to you two. Temps in the 70s, humidity 70%. More thoughts?

Temperature anywhere between 40 and 90 F., on the shady side (Grows outside at my house, bright shade) Humidity is fine. If you repot, suggest that you just slide it out, and drop it into a slightly large pot, without disturbing roots. Doesn't need the soak... all those roots will suck up moisture fine (and tend to hold it). I grow it in a basket (net pot), Andy's orchids grows it mounted very nicely . Neither of those options are ideal for your growing conditions, but indicative of the plant's needs. So while it wants "damp" it needs to dry out a little bit between waterings.

I think it was DeaC that said she grows hers in a cup of water? The website says no top watering. I thought that might be a good idea but, I can easily fix that.

I haven't bought from them directly, but I have several orchids from Cal-Orchid that I have purchased at orchid shows and local nurseries. If a lot of people are carrying their orchids, that's usually a good sign.

Check out the Dendrochilum - Introduction website. It's a wealth of information. I know they should !never! Dry out.
