Chadwick and Son
I received the Rechingerara Honky Tonk Woman plant I ordered from Art after one of you recommended I check Chadwick when I said I had been looking for it and couldn't find it. It's such a great plant. It's late and it's dark and the plants are outside, so I'll take a picture tomorrow, but it really is a fantastic plant. Art even included a nice handwritten note thanking me for ordering, and assuring me that this is a fine classic hybrid that will provide me years of enjoyment. I looked it up on Orchid Roots, and I see that it is registered to him. I hadn't realized that this one of his own hybrids. I will be ordering from Chadwick again for sure. His customer service is great, and he's so kind and polite. Those small touches really make a difference. Everybody go now and order a plant from Chadwick and Son! I really am going to stop now. I'm not ordering any more orchids this summer. This is the last one.

I would love to visit them, but it's about a 20 hour drive for me, and if I go, I'll want to take plants with me, so I'll need to bring them home in the car.

Glad to hear you had a good experience JScott and you are happy with the plant.
I'm always nervous making a recommendation like that. Just because I like a vendor doesn't mean someone else will but we were talking about a specific plant and I figured if it could work out, you should go straight to the source and get an original.

That's great Jeff! I'll check them out. And bless your heart, you just keep telling yourself that "done buying for now" story.

As I promised, here are the pictures. It is huge, and I can see sheaths on previous growths. It has a new growth a few inches tall, so I'm hoping that maybe it will bloom on the next growth. It is a healthy, happy plant and I'm very pleased with it.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. I've never shopped with Chadwick before, and I don't even think of him when I'm looking for something, but from now on, I definitely will. The prices are a little high, but I feel I definitely got good value for my money on this plant. It was totally worth it. I might never have found it without your help, or it may have been years before I finally saw it somewhere else again, so once again, thanks so much.

Well, the other six that I bought were all miniatures! And there's always room for miniatures, right? I'm right aren't I? Somebody please affirm that I'm correct in that evaluation.

No, it is not summer yet. Does that mean that my buying hiatus applies to spring, and then when it's finally summer I can start again?

They came with new moss? I think best one you need to pull the plant out, and inspect the root before too late

I've already looked at the roots and they are just fine. Excellent, in fact. Tons of healthy roots. I thought it was strange that it came in moss, but they're one of the most respected orchid nurseries in the country, so who am I to tell them their business. It has a good growth starting, and as soon as I see new roots, I'll repot in my preferred medium. I've noticed a drastic change in medium can be hard on the roots, especially from sphagnum to bark, so I don't want to risk stressing the current roots until I know new ones are coming. Meahwhile, the plant is large for the size of the pot, so it dries out super fast. I'm not worried. It will be fine with the moss until such time as I can repot.
